Ok, time to fix Gutter Runners
I have a general issue and a specific one.

General: Do specials have an "attack animation" or not? At 1k hours, I'm still confused. Using the Pack Master as an example, sometimes it "crouches" or has a little pause or animation when it lunges for the hook. Sometimes it just doesn't, and it can get you hooked.

Do specials have an "attack animation" or not? Is it random, aka there is no way to skill your way out of it?

Specific: With the above issue in mind, Gutter Runners are extremely annoying right now. Sometimes they have to "reset" after a pounce attempt, and sometimes they just instantly richochet into a new pounce. This is utterly random and I'm not sure how to deal with it.

What do you guys think? Are specials supposed to have an "attack animation"? Or do they have multiple "different" attacks the way a boss does? I'd just like to know so if it's bugged or intended, because if it's intended I could learn how to deal with it.

I agree gutters are the worst offenders should have a longer pause delay before launching at your face and longer time before vanish. Other specials can be annoying but predictable.

They have very skitsy behavior too sometimes curving into you, knocking one off to vanishing into an immediate relaunch and pinning same guy. 180 launch after a miss into your face... there not sneaky just jumpy!

It is inconcistent yes but I generally just assume they are always going to re-pounce so i'm always on guard. If they poof away then whatever, if not then I bash them or am already ready to dodge. It would be nice if they fix it and add some logic to the enemy but I'm not holding my breath.

Gutter runners are the main reason I don't really true solo anymore. Random, fast, very few tells, 1 hit kill on me, sometimes can snipe me from across the map, sometimes they double jump.

They're also really cheeky, they know when you're looking at them and will run back and forth behind a corner. Sometimes they even fake you out, using vanish, but not actually vanishing, so they jump on you.

It's fine in a team setting, but they are the meanest special, easily.

Does the new dodge mechanic help with this issue? I haven't tried beta yet.

I feel you, I was clutching a game yesterday when I got pounced by a gutter runner, only for the game to realize it had ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and finally registered my push. By that point it was too late and I got ganked by all the trash mobs around me.

As for your questions, I’m pretty sure the animations for hookmasters are supposed to be fixed, but specials are incredibly buggy as we all know, which is extra ♥♥♥♥♥♥ considering how they’re often the ones to break your run.

I love how they sometimes jump up over a ledge to gracefully nose dive onto their target. Rather amusing ;)

My main issue with gutter runners as they are now is their darn mega jumps. They can and often do just superman glide in from absolutely ridiculous distances. It's most noticable on open maps like Aethel Yenlui or Against the Grain.

That and the silly push that happens when they land on someone. I've had one runner wipe the whole party on a couple of occasions due the knockback from their landing pushing people off narrow ledges.

You are not alone...

I tell myself it's just a buggy implementation because I have gutter runners with weird / unpredictable / rediculess jumping behaviour very often.

Pouncing on you with its back towards you or taking corners in mid flight is golden.

My favorite part is when they sometimes decide they want to pounce you at Mach 8 with 2 frames from a wall 50 feet away to your face.

they usually insta pounce when they hit a wall or some sort of object stopping them, if they land and dont hit an object they usually dont insta pounce. Lazypanada did a segment on it in this video if i remember correctly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaKB2-KbTio
