Difference between loot box tiers

So there are some discussions on this already, but I haven´t found any with an acceptable, remotely reliable consensus at the end. So I will ask again: What is the damn difference between getting, say, a general´s coffer and getting a general´s chest? If there is none, what is the point of doing champion? If there is one, why can´t I find it anywhere? It seems to me like the devs just said "♥♥♥♥ it" halfway through patching this game and abandoned it.

By the way, fix the f*cking bots already please. Their programming lingers somewhere between "playable but barely" and "kill yourself".

In the higher class tiers of loot crates u can get items up to 300 weapon power, whereas in coffers there is a limit to 150 i think. Also in higher quality crates u have a higher chance for orange and blue drops over geen an white ones.
But if u are too low lvl u wont yet get high end loot anyway.

Yeah, thanks, but since 1.0.5 or so I think, there is no power level cap difference between the last 3 difficulties, their loot boxes all cap at 300, which is why I am asking. Are you sure there is a difference in loot quality then? Because I have only seen this mentioned by people not quoting any relevant or reliable sources so far.

The Emperor ones from champion can also drop reds! (rarely tho)

Peasant: Whites, greens, very few blues
Merchant
Soldier
General
Emperor: Lots of oranges

The chance for a higher tier item increases based on:
1. Your Character's Level
2. The Chest Tier
3. The difficulty

A level 5 Hero will nearly never get an orange item, even if the yopen Emperor boxes.
A level 30 hero can get blues from Peasant tiers.

As I play Legend almost exclusively:
Emperor Vaults give me almost entirely Orange items.
If I were to only play Veteran, I'd probably only get blue and green items, some oranges at best.

Red items can drop ONLY from General and Emperor CHEST and all types of VAULT. (Champion and Legend rewards)

Champion's General and Emperor chests have a chance of dropping red item, while every tier of Legend chest has also that chance.

I'm gonna sound like a bit of an ass... but you really needed to ask this? Why wasn't it painfully obvious that a higher tier crate will have higher tier rewards? I'd understand if you're asking specifics like a generals coffer vs emperors chest. But obviously playing a harder difficulty has a better chance of giving a better reward... otherwise they'd all be giving the same chests.

Yes, I did need to ask this, because the game doesn´t explain, or even imply anything like that and I was dreaded by the possibility that higher difficulties only reward you with the warm feeling in your heart that you managed to overcome legendary instead of just veteran while you were actually supposed to be doing school assignments that were due 14 months ago. I need that extra external motivation, yo. Also I couldn´t find ANY remotely coherent or reliable info on this anywhere.

I mean... It's pretty implied... If they had the same rewards, they would just be the same crates. The fact that they are different implies they hold different contents.

Am I wrong in saying you can only get cosmetics in Legend chests? I honestly don't know, but that is what it seems like.

Cosmetics (Hats) drop from Commendation chests, which are gained through XP only.
Cosmetics (Weapons) can drop from ANY chest
Veteran Weapons (Red Tier weapons) can drop from General and Emperor Chests + All Vaults
