I Really Hate the Design of Chaos Berserkers
Of all the specials and elites in the game, the ones I personally hate the most are Chaos Berserkers (or whatever the official name for the dual axe weilding chaos equivilent to plague monks are).

It's not because they are particularly powerful or difficult to kill, it's the fact that their poor design makes them the stealthiest special enemy in the game.

The first issue: Audio Cues
You hear clanking, you know to watch for gun rats; you hear chanting, you know to watch for blightstormers or leeches; you hear screeching you know to watch for plague monks; you hear a darth vader impersonater ♥♥♥♥ talking the heroes, you know to watch for chaos warriors. Heck, even gutter runners, expert skaven assassins, do the creepy wisper thing to alert you to their presence.

The chaos berserkers just do a generic yell which can easily be confused with the sounds made by any standard chaos horde enemy.

Second Issue: Visual Design
Gunrats, warpfire throwers, and gutter runners have glowing green weaponry to make them stand out in a crowd; chaos warriors and Maulers are 8ft tall in distinct armor; plague monks are larger than average skaven and have the green robes; stormvermin have bright red armor and again have larger models than trash skaven.

Chaos berserkers look exactly like chaos horde mobs except they have two axes instead of one.

With their generic looking models and lack of distinct audio cues, if a chaos horde is charging your party with a berseker mixed in, you only really find out when someone is suddenly downed or missing half their HP.

I agree, they do seem rather.... plain. Especially when compared to their Skaven counterparts.

Just slap some warpaint or wolf furs on 'em. Done.

I see this constantly and I'm relieved it's not just me.

Put some red tribal paint patterns on them.

No, they're Rotbloods, the followers of Nurgle, not of Khorne. Hell, even Maulers would look FAR better, let alone accurate in Green. Just take a peek at their glorious look in "Beastiary" mod.

My idea for Berserkers(aren't they called "Savages"?):

1. Different type of yell. While the current "SEEKING DEATH!" is plenty noticeable, I think that "YEEEEEELLLLLL!!!" should be reserved for them. Remove it from Sackheads and Marauders.

2. Leather Cuirass or Harness or something. Just to make them visually different from "Hockey mask" Marauders.

3. My favorite idea: Just get inspired by Warhammer Online and give them a mutated arm! Isn't that quite unique? Yeah, yeah, I know, the Marauders shouldn't have any major mutations. But! They can have it Mordheim and shouldn't isn't that strong of a word anyhow. Hell, even can't isn't technically 100%. And I have never heard "mustn't" in this context. So...just give them the damn love arm already!

It's not only you. All the Berserker type mobs have these weird lunges where it's almost impossible to shoot them. Or those frantic long lunges as well. They're plenty bugged imo. Oh, you Obesekoi!

Yea but gota make them stand out. Red would stand out amongst Chaos units. Plagues stand out as such recognisable sillhoutte and head to toe in neon green. Could have zer warpaint green, or like black, if War Paint design stands out enough of very striking design covering most body. Making units easily recognisable in games is subtle visuals that players pick of shapes and colours standing out.
People can ACHTCHUALLY I DON'T HAVE DIFFICULTY RECOGNISING ZERKS HON HON HON HON all like, but give them split second shots at masses of units and they'll recognise other elites and specials thousand times more than they will Zerks.

Could do other stuff like putting very recognisable shoulder pads and Helmet on Zerks. A very dark striking black or green war paint covering most body with a few strips of bare skin could look good and work.
maybe make thier tats brighter. Usually I know when they are coming but at times I do mistake them for a regular cultist

This is what grinds my gears, how broken their animations are, some bosses also have a problem similar to this, they seem to override certain animations and just insta-flip-around and hit you.

this was an issue with chaos warriors too till they patched it
fk kruber would knock them down and instantly stand back up like it never happened. I don't think it's lag, just a general issue in the game with animations taking priority or something, it still happens with every mob especially SV during their overhead attack.

They should be a bit more jacked/beefy than the other units, like super buff.

I remember someone saying the same thing about pack-masters, that they should be a really buff rats since they are "leaders" of the pack.

All they need to do is make berserkers yell like the kamikaze enemies in Serious Sam and they'll never catch anyone off guard again.

I agree that Beserker's are way too stealthy when it comes to blending in with other chaos enemies and no distinctive noise that they make unlike the plague monks.

I mean if you couldn't highlight them I could understand your issue. But you can highlight them, so I feel like if they sneak up on you good on them

Yes in order to play the game while fighting chaos one needs to press "T" all the time just in case a beserker is hiding in the sea of chaos grass ready to jump out with the classic pokemon battle music.

Some areas that are close quarters or sharp corners + the randomness of hordes/specials/bosses can screen elites that are in the vicinity but will still be drawn to the fight when aggro'd. Beserkers are far less obvious then Plague Monks who are distinctive in their green robes and screeching/hissing when you near them.

I don't see a problem with that, would pay money to add the Pokemon battle theme every time one jumped out of a horde though

Only if the game freezes for a few seconds with the Beserker in mid leap while playing the music before continuing on with an axe going for your face ;)

I dont have a big problem to spot em. They run while holding the axes up. And even if it happens that suddelny one or two of em pops up right infront of you. Block and do a dodge backwarts and they just swing in empty space.

Ofc they are dangerous. But i think that they should be. Maybe they where even designed that way that they blend in so you cant distinguish em too easaly.

hook rats etc can tackle down someone immediatly without him even beeing able to get out of the hold. So i think alerting the team that they are near is great.

But the berserkes are just stronger normal dudes and if you run mindless around the map and stumble right into em unprepaired then maybe you should travers the map more carefully. Or let the tank lead.
