Best melee/range for Unchained?
Anyone has any idea what it could be?

I can imagine the beam or bolt staff as range.. But melee, no idea

I imagine beam for low cost and quick special killing. Other than that, pick your poison in regards to what melee weapon your team might need.

Good, because I have an illusion for fire sword which makes it even more fiery... it really glows! Love it.

It depends.

I like:

Mace/beam
Mace is great at 1v1 on specials, ok-ish against hordes. Beam helps out by being a good sniper for specials at a distance or a good shotgun for hordes while also generating decent heat. At higher charges, mace can one shot stormvermin on opeing hits.

Flamesword/Fireball

Flamesword is probably the "best" melee overall for Sienna, wide sweeps, good arcs and the Charged attack can place a rather nice DoT. The Fireball staff is generally just a good staff.

Personally not a fan of the Bolt tbh. Haven't played with it since beta, but it generated far too much heat while still requiring 2-3 charged shots for ranged specials. Maybe that changed?

Flamethrower staff is... meh. At higher levels, when FF becomes a thing, it becomes a little too unwieldy as well. It lacks a decent range, making you rely on others to snipe wizards or gunners while also not being that great against anything but low level hordes.

Conflagration is another good staff, I'd put it next to the fireball staff tbh. Easier to use and not FF on Champion+ than other staves.

In the end, I like Mace or Flamesword. Mace takes some getting used to, but once you understand the swinging arcs, it can do well in most situations while also dealing with stormvermin/Chaos lords rather effectively due to it's opening swing being straight down on the head. Against monsters, it also applies the nice DoT on Charged attacks. Flamesword is just a generally good weapon. Dagger and sword are both ok, not great.

Nice, thanks for the big reply! Yeah bolt doesn't feel that great imo either now when I tried it, beam feels alot better. And the shotgun is really great, and actually not a big arc so it's easy to aim with!
Right now I'm using fire sword and beam staff. But I'll try out the mace/beam once I get a great mace!
Fireball feels a bit, limited when FF is on...

Wait, the conflagration staff doesn't damage allies on champion?

Fairly certain it does? It's just easier to aim and easier for allies to avoid walking into since it has such a clear indicator. Terrible for generating charge though, so it loses some value (imo) on the Unchained.

i really like fireball clears hordes really fast and its left click does way more then the beam just harder to aim. i didnt like the firesword much as it felt slow on its charge attack but i love the basic sword. cleaves real nice on its charge attack and its fast with a lot of stagger

i also just dont like the beam i like the fireball/bolt mainly bolt for unchain makes storm and specs fast to kill with a small charged right click

Melee: Flame Sword
Range: Bolt Staff

Bolt staff increases overcharge more rapidly than any other staff. That means you can run it up and switch to melee for that increased damage bonus.

Bolt staff is also easier to aim and easier to avoid hitting your allies in higher difficulties.

Your friends will thank you!

Personaly i prefer beam, it's more versatile (OP i should say ATM), you can spam shotgun to quickly overcharge if you want... But u should'nt cause if you get hit while overcharging in higher diff, u will instat explode...
