Training Grounds Idea - Practice Learning Enemy Patterns
Hey guys,

So I was thinking.. this game has a pretty steep learning curve, from being a total scrub who rushes ahead and gets owned by a packrat mob, to a guy who can solo it on champion by dodging, parrying and generally being a total badass high-skill player.. which is great.. but!

In order to facilitate this, you need to play for a looong♥♥♥♥♥time, and, more to the point, you need friends.. why? Because, in order to truly master this game (imho, and not that I have, by any stretch of imagination) you need to learn the attack patterns of the enemies, learn parry and dodge timings etc.

Here's where my idea comes in: we already have the mechanics of the AI director spawning enemies, we already have a training ground.. what would be amazing, is a game mode, for "single" or multiplayer where you can selectively spawn every type of mob, one by one, five, 10, 20, whatever. Nothing else happens, just you, and the ability to select and fight any mob in the game in a controlled environment. This would allow people to be able to learn these things without having to have a team carry them and kill every other enemy around just so you can do this. It would seriously ramp up the skill of every player in a much shorter time, allowing the devs to make the game even more challenging while still not turning away more casual people.

What do you think? :)

Yeah, I would love a more extensive training ground. At the very least something that will fight back so players can work on their dodgine and block timing.

Ideally you'd have some kind of arena from which to "release" a desired opponent.

Yeah why not.

Yeah, just seems like it wouldn't be too much work to implement while helping everyone out, you know? The game's tutorial is pretty damn barebones, and doesn't really prepare players for the rather high skill cap that will be expected.

Seems like a great idea.

I'm sure it's possible with the modding tools.
