Repeater: Mid~close range rapid fire for semi-tanky mobs (chaos grunts who take a few more hits than the skaven)
Handgun: Long range sniper for taking out specials from afar. The zoom helps you land headshots from beyond the range the AI starts to get aggroed by you. For instance, at the start of "Empire on Fire", if you range it well, you can take out the chaos warrior at the gate with one shot. Also good for taking out Stormvermin (armored rats) from afar before you engage a group of rats
Bow: Mid range sniper for taking out elite units. Fires faster than handgun, but damage is less. Use to land a few hits and get damage in the specials and chaos warriors before you engage. Makes the fight shorter and easier
Blunderbluss: Close range DPS. Huntsmen active+this gun means boss goes down easily. Can also take down group of mobs easily too. This plus the trait that gives you health per kill means you can save your team when you get in a sticky situation. Also good for quickly taking out specials at close range. Mid range your mileage may vary, but I find i can land pretty good shots and take em out in one hit.
Oh and his ultimate? 1.5 is still a hell of a damage dealer even on Champion difficulty. Don't get scared by the numbers. I laugh when people call it a nerf cuz it definitely is not.
I might have missspoken. I was wondering what it is he does better then other options. Maybe one ranged class is better for somethings and another might be better on another area. He does do alot of damage to bosses and specials and maybe that's where he shines. But i think most ranged can take down specials in 1-2 hits even the dwarf with a meele specc. I'm just wondering if the trade off is worth it if you need to play him like a meele character and save his ulti to kill bosses which appear quite seldom. When you can still kill specials with his merc specc and do alot more damage with your meele in the meantime.
The only real legit ranged weapon for huntsman.
Hmm i might give that weapon a shot then. I've tried it on his merc class and it was quite fun. Maybe it's better on the Huntsman and could make him more of a ranged option rather then meele and use the gun only to kill specials.
Not to surprising given people will happily disagree with you for the simple reason of *internet* :)
