RNG, genius.
Why do you care so much about what others are getting in a PvE coop game anyways.
When you complete a mission to increase the value of your chest you get
Mission Complete - Completing mission
Quick play - If you chose quick play
Tomes - How many tomes you collected
Grimoires - How many grimoires you collected
Loot Dice - This is irrelevant since even if you collect 2 it gives you 0 bonus. But it's suppose to be RNG
Ranald's Gift - This is irrelevant since even no matter what you do it gives 0 bonus. But it's suppose to be RNG
Ranalds gift is an "RNG(Ha)" bonus to your chest quality.
No one is asking for guaranteed top loot. But you shouldn't put "Ranald's Gift" in the game if you have to roll a 1000 sided die and if it lands on 1-989 it's worthless and if it rolls on 990-999 it makes the difference between soldiers and generals and only if it rolls 1000 will you ever see emporers. I find this extremely poor taste.
I did play the first one as you can see in my profile. Wasn't a fan of the loot system then. This loot system is somewhat better. Being level 15 and only getting whites regardless of chest level or recruit/vet/champ difficulty. While these level 5-10s are getting oranges. Leaves a sour taste in ones mouth ya know?
Theres no reason for this much grind and it is hard for me to say that this loot system is really better in any way than the first. Because at least in the first if you got blues you could join a buddy on nightmare. Now you have some fake number you need to magically make bigger so you magically do more damage.
Even if it is PVE its just a little to much. I can see this treadmill becoming a real chore if you want to be decent at or even try lord difficulty. It just seems to me like a really cheap and trasparent way of increasing your time running on the loot treadmill for no real benefit to the player.
If the gift was a way to get a better chest in case you whiffed it and lost a grim I'd be fine with it. However gating the best chance at the best loot behind even more chance just seems arbitrary and lame.
The second you get what you want loot wise you'll be complaining there isn't anything else to do.
Some of you keep pointing out RNG is RNG, but that doesn't really change much does it? If we do full tome/grim runs and get nothing out of it too many times in a row, it just gets tiring to say the least. Stayed like that in V1 for well over a year until they FINALLY started to add ways to ease the suffering and like magic people came back to the game.
