We're the bloody Ubersreik Five! Or four, doesn't matter!
Homage to Logen Ninefingers, aka The Bloody-Nine?

Bloody is a popular word used to exaggerate something in the English language, so I doubt it.

Why would its use, either expletively or literally, preclude an intended reference to some other entity outside the game? Your statement makes no sense to me...

Maybe the use of bloody five or four in that line was just an accidental coincidence. I guess only FS really knows... whatever, my mind made the leap none the less :)

I think you're reading too much into it, friend.

In nearly all the contexts where we use this kind of 'bloody' it can also be synonymously swapped with '♥♥♥♥♥♥♥' with little loss in meaning.

-Don't bloody miss then grimgi.
-Kill that bloody rakizharr.
-Bloated bloody blightstormer.
-You're welcome to bloody try.
-I'm a bloody battering ram.
-Bloody hell, Sienna.
See a pattern yet?

Yes, I bloody know what "bloody" bloody means and how it's bloody used ;)

Why all the focus on the word "bloody"?

Never heard of games embedding hidden references to other works or popular culture?

But seriously, for me it is close to the edge of being a bit too far of a leap... and if I had to bet on it, I'd probably lean towards coincidence... but then again...

Just replace the dolphin sounds with "bloody" and there's your answer.
I think you're experiencing a bit of apophenia. References and Easter eggs are, once discovered, usually very easy to identify as such. The alleged reference here is about as tenuous as it could possibly be. With all due respect, I think it's more wishful thinking on your part.

It probably is a bit of wishful thinking since I enjoyed the bloody-nine books. And considering the funny ambiguities (intentional or not) from the lines in VT1, it wouldn't surprise me if someone put some hidden meanings in the VT2 lines as well.

The reason I went on was that I find the counter-arguments of: "'bloody' is too common a word to be used as a reference" unconvincing. Apophenia is a slightly better argument, but still a bit unconvincing since the "connection" is so simple. As for references should be easily identifiable, and this one being "as tenouos as it could possibly be", for me the line jumped out as a reference the first time I heard it. You'd have to be a pre-schooler not to register that "bloody", "four", and "five" could make it to "bloody-nine".

The reason I find the reference claim to be tenuous is that "the bloody nine" is probably a bit too obscure to most people. However, it's exacly the sort of simple yet far fetched, sneaky thing I'd use if I ever put in an easter egg somewhere.

I guess I'm a pre-schooler then, because I just thought it was a funny joke regarding the 4 player limitation with 5 characters, and it had "bloody" in there because Kruber says it a lot. :lunar2019piginablanket:
