Any tank class, so you can play as 10 of 12 classes.
I can't say that slayer or shade are good supports, unless you think like me that - if you kill everything - you will help everyone.
Whist there isn't a support character in the truest sense of the word, there are number of characters and builds that can take on a supporting type role, in that they buff teammates, heal teammates or debuff enemies. With the recent changes in this current Beta for WoM, there are even more options available and teamwork is now better rewarded than ever.
First option is Kruber - Mercenary. His Ult is an AoE knockdown that also gives your teammates some THP. With the right specs you can also add a damage resistance to your party with that. He can also boost the attack speed of the party with the right talent (Strike Together). So you can build him a bit like an old-school Paladin/Cleric, in so much as this game allows.
Kruber - Huntsman. Has a small crit chance boost aura.
Kruber - Footknight has a damage reducing aura, and you can boost the effect of that aura with certain talents. He also gets a dash that can be very useful in a clutch situation to rescue a disabled/incapacitated ally.
Bardin - Ranger Veteran. As Gloooo mentioned you can spec him out to drop ammo, potions or bombs from specials. With the right items you can spec him out to share healing/potions and have a chance not to consume them.
Bardin - Ironbreaker. His ULT works as a taunt that also gives you 100% block cost reduction and a big damage reduction boost, so its great for those crazy situations where everything just goes to pot... or when a patrol suddenly triggers on you.
Kerillian - Waystalker. Can spec to have an AoE heal (up to 50% health). Its very slow though.
Saltzpyre - WHC. Gives everyone a 20% damage buff on tagged enemies, and can give them bonuses when a taggable enemy is tagged/killed. His Ult also gives everyone a 25% crit chance bonus for a few seconds as well as an AoE knockback.
Sienna - Unchained. You can now spec her Ult to heal allies, and can spec into a talent that reduces the damage dealt by enemies by 30% whilst burning (which Sienna is good at doing).
With certain charms and necklaces you can also share healing and potions with your party (as in you use it, others share the benifit), or you can just hand it to them :)
Finally, with the WoM expansion, the new stagger mechanic means that anyone can boost the damage dealt to enemies by helping to stagger enemies. Certain weapons are a lot better at this than others, so if you want to play support its another way to do so and let the DPS folk do their thing.
If you search around in the Guides, there are some builds and gear for some of these options. They may need a little tweak for the new patch, but most of it should be good. I know there were good guides for Mercenary, Footknight and Ranger at least.
Folk that enjoy playing support are relatively rare on here, but always welcome. You'll still want to get your own skill level up to take care of yourself, but the game rewards team play, especially on the higher difficulties.
1. Kruber's Mercenary career:
This is my favorite "support" career in the game. His career skill gives temporal health to your whole party, which can be boosted with cooldown reduction item traits and properties which almost remove the cooldown entirely.
Additionally with lvl.20 Strike Together talent you can spread your Paced Strike passive skill to whole party (+10% attack speed).
2. Saltzpyre's Witch Hunter career:
If you want to give bonus damage and critical boost to your group, then this career is your choice.
His career skill gives a massive critical change boost (+25% crit change) to your party, which again can be enhanced with cooldown reduction item traits and properties.
Also, his Witch-Hunt passive skill gives +20% damage to tagged enemies which is a big boost when you're fighting bigger enemies such as bosses. And with Wild Fervour talent you can boost that crit change even further.
3. Bardin's Ranger Veteran career:
The support build with this career circles around his Survivalist passive. With proper talents you can support your team with free ammo, potions and bombs, but that's about it.
