FatShark uses Steam for some of their services already.
About the buyers of such data:
A *lot* of potential buyers exist, from the military (you read that right) to research institutes (biology, e.g.) to advertising agencies etcetc.. You wouldn't believe what data can be used for.
Apart from that, there is a general misunderstanding, I believe:
I am not worried, not in the least, about FatShark collecting data. I willingly play their game, and if they collect data, they are welcome to do so with me, as long as it's nothing (too) personal.
Just to clarify: You might think it's my goal to attack FatShark or say they are bad data gatherers. I don't. I just pointed out a trend among game developers. That's all.
Btw, if you or anybody else is interested in the topic, there are some very good articles that have come up the last few years in the internet. If you understand German, this one's quite interesting, for example:
https://www.tagesspiegel.de/berlin/computerspiele-unser-spiel-heisst-geld-machen-und-ihr-seid-darin-nur-eine-zahl/23808444.html
Yeah, its a growing problem, but info it worth more than cash now so i understand why everyone want a slice of that cake. Im sry if i have come of as a bit attacking about it all.
My german is a bit rusty, but i will check out the articel as the subject is importen.
Thank you, and you have a good day.
Do check reviews first though, to make sure they follow through....
That just makes me remember how people said, that the game was unfinished on release.
Next time make sure to put some bug fixes in the next DLC or some QoL changes...
I think that it is step in right direction, so we need to encourage devs to make further steps and that way make more comfortable crafting system for regular gear aswell.
