Login Credentials
The game asks for login credentials on startup, if I fill something in it says invalid credentials provided please try again.

Hi Ebbit,

Please right click on the game in the Steam library and select > properties > betas > "publicbeta" from the drop-down menu.

If this doesn't help post the log file located in your game installation folder so we can take a look at what's going on. Apologies for the inconvenience, we'll sort this out.

Thank you for your reply,

I tried the public beta but experienced exactly the same issue, the moddable version does work however.

Where would you like me to send the log file?

Since the moddable version seems to be working there should be no need for login credentials provided you haven't actually modded the executable.
Please send your game log file, it's in the game installation folder. You can use pastebin, and share the link to the paste here.

I would prefer to just mail it to you.

There is no sensitive data in the log file, you can check any of the examples if it's worrying you.

If you are still reluctant to send it here, send it via support at croteam dot com.

I assume the ERR line is what's important?

Same issue here, I use the steam link for most of my gaming, so after getting it for free from Epic, added to Steam as a non-steam game, and can't get past the credentials needed screen. Works fine from Epic Launcher though...

I have a similar issue. My main gaming computer runs Linux, unfortunately Epic does not work with Linux. I have downloaded The Talos Principle on Windows and copied it to my Linux computer and try to run it via Wine. It seems to work, but then it asks for credentials.

Same problem for me, from epic launcher but in windows

Also same.

I got the game from the Epic Game Store and tried to add it as a Non-Steam game to my steam library so it will display when I'm in game to friends, but when I start the game through steam I'm met with a "Login Credentials" page asking me to sign in, and it doesn't work. Launching it on the EGS does work. I tried adding the "-EpicPortal" launch option (I saw that recommended for another game, idk if that's for all steam games, or just that one though), it didn't change anything.

I'm also trying to add it as a nonsteam game so that my steam controller will correctly work with the game when I launch it, it was not being detected as a controller properly when launched from the EGS, I can see that it's correctly being detected as a controller when I launch from steam already, I just can't play the game with it....

I have solved my issue (figured out how to run Epic via Wine, the game works if launched from Epic). The game was unplayable due to graphical glitches, but this was fixed when I switched to Vulkan.

I was able to solve this issue with help of Process Explorer tool(download it from Microsoft site).

Just download and install it.
1. Run Process Explorer.
2. Than you have to run game though Epic Store.
3. While game is running, switch to Process Explorer, and find game process there, right click it and then click Properties.
4. Copy command line parameters from opened window.
5. Add them in Steam.

Hope this helps.
