Also, civvies don't drop cash upon death.
What Steam is doing has NOTHING to do with my country's laws, it's purely self-castration.
This is also a reason why there is wide-spread piracy in the PC-Gaming section, and i'm afraid I have to stoop to this level if I want to enjoy the games the way they were meant to be played.
But by law I am not restricted to just low gore versions, this is purely to protect people under 18. Since i'm way over 18, I should not have this problem, but Steam just doesn't differentiate, they just say "just cut versions for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Krauts" and leave it at that.
I would be more than happy to scan my I.D. to prove that i'm over the age of eighteen, but that sadly is not an option that is open to me.
the law here is not quite like that, the censorship does not come from the goverment it comes from the publishers. it is copletly legal to own an uncensored game in germany. i postet an why is that in another thrad i just copy/paste it here.
It works like that
in germany every videogame needs an an rating from the USK to be sold or advertised the ratings are 0, 6, 12, 16 and 18.
for every game to be checked the publiusher needs to pay for it (not an insignificant amount). if the game gets checked and dont achieve any rating it cant be openly sold or advertised in germany. so if a game doesnt pass the check the publisher loses money.
so they are forced to alter it so that it gets a rating. if the game gets checked and dont pass they need to send in another "updated" version they have to pay the USK again and to avoid that most publishers send cut versions first to save money and just get their rating even through the uncut version may have passed the test.
the ratings are sometimes realy insane there was a game once that received absolutly no rating @ all so the publisher gutted theyr game so hard it jumped instantly from no rating to 16 wich is absolutly ridiculous.
it is sad that so many people still paying for the cut versions of their games, to end this insanity every cut game should just be boycotted in germany and just importet for something to change.
