How does co-op work?
I've looked on line and can't really find what i'm looking for. If I start a co-op game and someone joins do they get any experience, money, quest completion and things like this? Could I start a brand new game with someone and they be host and when we are done go back to playing the game single player with what we have accomplished?
EDIT: Also just wanna say this game is WAAAY more fun than I was expecting. Holy cow it's fun.

I have played all the saints row games to 100% completion, the only downfall of SR3 is it does not have a replay feature like SR2. You could play the main missions and all activities single player. After you beat the game you could replay all main missions and activities again with a co-op player and it would show you which ones you did not complete co-op.

This forces at least one person to start a new character to replay all activities and main missions again, this means you start the game you are hosting the game. you would load your game and invite coop partner to your game not his, unless you both started a new game together. I have not confirmed it yet, but you may need to do it with the same person, so trying to get someone to dedicate 15 hours is difficult. Plus like the other night me and a good gamer were chopping away at the achievements, and what do you know, he could not load at a certain part of the main story and crashed, so wasted 3 hours for nothing.

I'm sorry I read your post a few times and I don't really understand :(.

You can start a new game with a friend, both starting new and keeping the save files and info?
You lost 3 hours of co-op time with your friend. Does it not save the game? Sorry there is just alot of information in your post and i'm having a problem wraping my head around it. Thanks though.

Basically, there can only be two players in one co-op game.
One is the host, and the other joins.

The mision is based on the host's game.

So the the person joining is basically just a helper they don't take back anything from the co-op experience.

They both earn money and respect from mission unless the character has reached the max. Also, the 'helper' will still own the stores and weapon/car upgrades as in his/her own game. The store/weapon/car owning system appears to be separated. Only the environment (e.g. a building is destried and no lond exists) and mission are the same.

that makes sense. One last question sorry i'm feel like an ass for not understanding everything. So if i join a game and we get farther than I was in my single player will the progress in missions carry over for me? That is if i'm not the host. If you were a new player and I did say 3 missions already jumped into your match we played 10 missions when I go back to single player on mine will i have completed 10 missions or still be on 3?

No worry. It is fine.

However, I don't know the answer. My character had finished everything and reached the max respect.

Both host and you can start story missions from phone. But they will be from hosts progress. If host start mission 1 and you are on mission 5, you both will complete mission 1 and get reward. You will just replay the mission for bonus respect and money. When you reach mission 6, your progress will save, so as hosts because you are on same mission on your save file. That means when you save and exit, you both are on mission 6.

To put it simple, you just replay missions you already did. You don't lose your progress. Activities work same. All shops and upgrades you buy are permanent and will save. You buy something you buy it for yourself, host will have to buy the shop for himself.

It's kinda simple but hard to explane. And english isn't my native language. Hope it helped.

That's perfect. Was actually how I was hoping it worked too thanks

Almost 9 years later here I am, playing Saints Row 3 for the first time. It's also my first Saints Row game. The remaster is here but it's just doesn't feel as good. I'm glad I bought the original Saints Row 3, 4 and both their DLCs on sale.

I need help guys I cant play the game :(
I choose directx9 or directx 10/11, the game opens, but when I click "campaign", the loading screen comes up and the game closes without any error.
Please help me how can I fix it?
Btw I verified the files and it found 2 files. So I downloaded them but the problem was still the same... I deleted it and downloaded again but it was still the same..

Check if you have the latest video drivers. Make sure the game is using the dedicated gpu (if you have one). Also, keep in mind the game isn't the best optimized, so if your specs are weak then test low preset in display settings and see if the campaign runs. That's all I can say from the info you've provided.

One weird solution

I had a problem running the game too, although it was slightly different. I couldn't get Steam to run the game after transferring it onto my pc from another pc where I had downloaded it. Sometimes Steam wouldn't recognize it, sometime it did but wouldn't run/verify the game. To solve the issue, I did a variation of the following.

1. Make a backup copy of the game in a safe place, from the following directory : ProgFilesx86>Steam>steamapps>common

2. Delete the game from common

3. Uninstall the game from Steam Client

4. Install the game from Steam Client but pause the download

5. Close Steam Client, and copy the files from the backup folder and paste inside the new game folder in common

6. Restart Steam Client. and see if it detects the files

Another way you could try is doing the steps in the following order : 1, 2, 3, 5, 4. When you do this step 4 becomes "Install the game from Steam Client" (Don't pause it).

Godspeed.
