Game won't launch!

My game won't even launch. I have tried validating, which always fails 2 files. Always. I have reinstalled SR3, Steam, AND Windows for that matter, all to no avail. Help? :(

back around 2 yrs ago, i told ppl to turn off real time protection and their firewall, once saints row 3 starts up, you can turn it back on,

Here's what I did to fix the problem. Go to your library, right click on the game, then go to properties. Under updates, uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Saints Row: The Third." That's what did it for me.

Can confirm moving the install folder to your C Drive works. This happens with older games like Skyrim too

So I had originally installed this to my ReFS storage space and the game [namely the launcher] failed to launch. I saw the chatter in here about filesystem issues and moved the game to an NTFS partition and it started right up.

You don't have to install it specifically to your C: drive, any NTFS-formatted partition should do.

Skip DrectX Prompt

Whenever you start the game, you get a prompt asking you which version of DirectX to use. This can be skipped with these instructions:
In your Steam Game Library, find the game, right click it and click Properties.
Click the Local files tab.
Click the "Browse local files..." button to open up the game folder.
Rename the "game_launcher" application file.
Choose one of the following:
To run the game in DirectX 10 & 11 mode:
Rename "SaintsRowTheThird_DX11" to "game_launcher".
To run the game in DirectX 9 mode:
Rename "SaintsRowTheThird" to "game_launcher".



Maybe do aswell the intro advertisement skipping so you can start faster the game.
What grapicscard brand do you have, AMD or Nvidia? AMD has some issues.

But i gave you 2 url's guidelines for further help. I hope you have enough support now, if not feel free to ask again for further help.

i know, this is an old post but...Someone has managed to fix this without move the entire game to other disk or something?...I have exactly the same problem, the game works laggy on dx11 and the others "2 corrupted files" still show up when i do the verify the cache...I rly need help.

Im the same tried various ways from this post still not managed to get it fixed

how do i fix this issue it wont run, also when it runs it says its "running" i try to stop it wont work someone help.

SO, my friend was having the same issue with the game, where you repair the files, it always says 2, and where when she clicked play, after a bit it would just switch back to saying "Play". She had the same issue with Assassin's Creed Revelations, and what fixed it for her was downloading the game on her MAIN DRIVE. It fixed all the issues and lets her load the game perfectly fine, at maximum settings.

I just (re)finished Saints Row 2 and was going to jump back onto this until I ran into the problem where the launcher would pop up asking for DX10/11 or DX9. Both choices dropped me to the desktop without showing anything afterwards. No logos/videos.

I tried the process of moving my Install to the main Steam install drive. This was originally on a secondary drive as my main Steam install is on my NVMe partition with very limited space (and this game definitely doesn't need the speed boost). Moving it to the main Steam drive fixed it. I was able to load up the game.

After that I used the Move Install Folder (or whatever it's called) function again and moved it back to the secondary drive (with 10x the available space). I loaded the game back up via DX10/11 and I was able to load up my last save game from ages ago. Hopefully this isn't affecting someone with only one drive on their system.

SO FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS: UNINSTALL THE GAME THEN REINSTALL IT ONTO YOUR MAIN DRIVE (i.e the drive you windows system is on whether thats C Drive or E drive) THEN IT SHOULD WORK!!

if only i had of thought about this option alot sooner would have solved the issue thanks guys....

Just tried this, it is not working for me.

I actually installed this to try a theory as Saints Row 4 has suddenly seemingly out of the blue developed an FPS issue. someone replied saying 3 is also doing it.

So I re-installed this to see if this had an fps issue, However this is giving me a bigger issue,

Regardless of which direct x version I select, the screen goes black for a few seconds, then steam force closes and I end up back at the desktop.

I have verified files,
I have reinstalled the game to my c:
I have manually gone in and deleted the folders by hand then reinstalled
I have tried both direct x versions.
I have tried running the game exe's manually instead of through steam.
I have tried steam in offline mode.
All drivers up to date.
