Remaster pros and cons
Pro
- improved resolution on specific objects (actors, inventory, garage)
- Actors look closer to the promo pictures (except Shaundi)
Cons
- CC females look ugly, no matter what I do
- Shaundi has flat, black hair
- Actor lip sync makes them look like toads
- A certain feature from the diner's sign was removed
- Outdoors and Wardrobe lighting too bright (is there a way to adjust?)
- Wardrobe color choices too dark
- Sniper Rifle pickup from Morningstar chopper removed

I'm sure Kunovega and his 1000iQ will pipe in soon to tell how wrong you are.

What?

Compared to the promo pic AND the prior version, it is black and flat. No body or color at all.

Look at Shaundi again. In this comparison there is more light on the Remastered version. Care to explain why her hair is STILL DARK???

The remastered version clearly has brighter & more colorful textures. If anything it's the original version that looks flat & dark by comparison.
Then I must be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ color-blind, because I clearly see BROWN in the original, but only BLACK in the new ♥♥♥♥♥!
What you see as "bright and colorful" is the lighting effect you mentioned... REFLECTION. I, on the other hand, am looking at the BASE color and hair style.

Yeah, I have to agree, her hair is blacker in the remaster. It's lighter in terms of actual light, yes, they clearly brightened up that scene, but her hair itself is a darker color.

Your reply makes no sense. This is the conversation;

Her hair is black!
No, it's not.
Yeah, I see it as black too.
She has makeup and specular mapping.

Uh, I agree, the new one is undoubtedly more detailed and higher res, there's no debate, but...it's still black hair in that photo, while the original is visibly brown. The lighting is even much brighter in the remaster, so we can see, in high-def, her hair is black. I mean, I don't think hair color really matters, but I this is just a funny exchange.

What do you mean by that?

At least KK looks cuter.

I agree that Kinzie looks better. Not cuter, since I happen to like nerds, but definitely sexier.

You need to adjust your graphic settings or graphics card setting if her hair is appearing black for you.

Also I wouldn't say the lighting is brighter in the remaster. In certain scenes it is but not throughout the entire game. The original game's lighting is more even across the entire game whereas the remaster's lighting changes significantly based on the location & time of day & weather.
After lowering the Brightness and maxing out the Sharpness, I only saw a MARGINAL difference in color. If you wanna call it BROWN, I would say it's a black walnut. The old hair was a more noticeable chestnut.

It seems there are issues with hair styles and colors. The iridescent colors are all ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up too. Annoying if a hair style or color was part of your character before.

If I have the mess with my settings, that work for everything else just fine, in order to see the brown, then there is almost no brown. If anything, it sounds like you're the one altering things to try and make it brown instead of just accepting it's black. At least in the images you posted, I don't know about the game itself, I don't have it, so maybe the pics are bad.
no1schmo May 29, 2020 @ 5:55pm
Yup, I agree. It's brown in that picture. Wasn't brown in the other picture.

Yeesh, that looks nothing like her. Although honestly, they changed her a ton in 3 anyway. I'm glad 4 actually addressed that. I just wished her new model looked like a hot reality TV star since that's what she's supposed to be.
