Can players in different country regions co-op?

Hi community!

A friend in Germany wants the game to co-op with me; but, he noticed that the sales window mentioned a region restriction when trying to buy the regular SR3 game, pushing him towards the EU version. If he buys the EU version, does anyone know if we can link up via co-op; or does it force him to play with other EU players?

He will be able to play with you, when a game is region locked it usually has to do with the currency difference. Basically I could buy games super cheap if I converted my USD currency to Russian and that would hamper the profits of the company so games get region locked to prevent that.

I found the answer to this question and want to share the information with others out there in case you need the information, too. Here are the findings:

A few countries (such as Germany in my friend's case) have only Cut (censored) versions of games due to country information and exposure restrictions. Therefore, unless both of you have the Cut version of the game, you will NOT be able to play together. Even if you do, and you're in different regions, it's not certain, only speculation that you will be able to play together.

I hope this information helps many users in the times to come! Sorry for those of you who ended up suffering like my friend an I did. :-(

If you buy SR3 on steam in the U.S and gift it to someone in germany, do they get the U.S
copy?

No, Steam will check for region by IP address. My friend found that out by accidentally buying the NA version first.
