regular crash while trying to complete the party time mission

this happens everytime on a certain part of the party time mission where the saints take over the penthouse! it is always after the helicopter chase then when i find the lieutenant get the info to stop the bomb going off and then i kill him the game crashes this same pattern has been going on for the last few days for me so its not just a random crash here and there can anyone help me figure out why this might be happening i have changed my settings to the lowest so i dont think its my gfx card any other help and advice is welcome please and i would be thankful for

p.s. also i do have a separate shortcut for saints row on my desktop could this be part of the problem?

is the game installed on the same drive as your steam client?

single player game how do i find steam client i am on win 8!?

right click on your steam icon/shortcut and select "Open file path..."

ok i tried to do that via the desktop app all it does is open the game and i have looked in properties Saints Row The Third the desktop app gives me this info Internet Shortcut (.url)

also i looked in this pc > program files > steam > steam apps
as you can see Saints Row The Third is in there

that's looking okay to me, you have SR3 and steam installed on the same drive.
now what's happening when you verify the game cache?

files failed to vaildate and will be reacquried

okay, verify again until there's only one file (~15MB) left - last time i checked, the one file was always downloading, but the game worked fine.

also make sure you disable your antivirus temporally while verifying the game cache because it can prevent the files from being updated.

ok ty for your advice i now know what to try next time saints or any other game crashes
