Pricing is killing the community.

This port is not worth 60$ plus the DLC costs.
Toukiden2 port: 60$
3 weeks sold 21,148 copies.

Bayonetta port: 20$
1 day sold 43,573 copies

If this was priced to sell at release on PC it would have sold a ton more and that compounds cause the more people that buy it, the more people pester their friends to get it for multiplayer. Lets say you cut the price in half but twice as many people buy it. The community is bigger and the game will last and sell longer. You'll still make the same amount of money in the short and more in the long run, but that 60$ price tag kills the community before it has a chance to take off. You have to price the game to sell according to fan base. This has practically no fan base and people aren't willing to take the risk on trying out this genre on a $60 port.. (and yes it's a port regardless of simultaneous release. It was designed to run on Vita and the PS version is identical.)

Also previous game only sold 28k in two years on Steam. Same thing all over again. Need to get a fanbase before you price gouge them. People won't take the risk for 60$ with a flop like the first game and sub par graphics. Don't take this wrong. This is just the facts on the sales and self destruction of the game's fanbase I know a lot of kids out there will read this and get triggered like I'm attacking "their" game. I enjoy the game and think it's great. This has nothing to do with gameplay other than say the online/multiplayer aspect of it.

If I spent thousands of hours developing a game I don't think I'd be so keen on sabotaging it's sales.
Must be nice to have so much money that they don't care if the product they created sells or not.

People try to argue that Bayonetta is an unfair comparison.
Then don't compare it to anything. You don't need to. Just use a little common sense and look at it's statistics.

Eh that's Koei for you. They can't into digital pricing, all their games are like this sadly. I knew when I bought Toukiden 2 that it was screwed since they STILL want $60 for Toukiden: Kiwami.

Now look at God Eater, it's been on sale a ton for a good amount and has 216,414+ owners. That's almost 200k more than Toukiden 2 even if it was released like 6 months earlier.

Kind of odd how this thread never goes away.

I wish this would actually drop in price to around the $25-$30 range, insta-buy for me at that price, but for $60, that money is better spent on better games that came out this year, and once Monster Hunter World hits, this game is as good as done.

No idea why KT enjoys throwing their own games to the slaughterhouse like this. :\

If this was cheaper, I would have got this ages ago, plus copies for friends. Unfortuinately still wiating, and hasnt moved an inch in price.

MH World comes out soon, and I will buy that and copies for my friends instead.

MHW won't be cheaper, if that's what you're thinking. In fact, it'll cost even more to buy when it releases.

It's also a vastly superior game (subjective) and more than likely will offer a lot more content than this rehashed title on top of it looking better and being more dynamic.

You didn't need to add "subjective", and vastly was an understatement. Playing it now and it blows these hunting clones out of the water. MHW is a long time coming. Lol I remember getting flamed on the MH facebook page cause I said "MH gameplay is spot on but it needs a facelift, they're still using the same assets from like 13 years ago" I mean I got flamed hard with people saying sh** like "WTF does it matter if I can see some blades of grass on the ground etc". Those same people are now sh**ing their pants at how beautiful it is.. Tired of telling people "I told ya so".

Bandai have God eater, koei tecmo have toukiden 2, and later capcom will release MHW.. God Eater is porting, and so Toukiden series. God eater PC still have many bugs tho don't really have bad porting since the graphic of game itself really like cartoonize (or.. Hmm i dont know to describe it), but then again the dev just update for "problematic bug" the small bugs, just meh... Well, thats how developer works for porting game.. They will not make any progress for the pc. They go to console first...

MHW is on a differ scale all together. If you have eyeballs that work then you can tell it's worth $60+. With 13ish years of games and development it's not even fair to compare it to Toukifail. Capcom and it's publishers don't price gouge Monster Hunter and it's DLC has always been free. Also, shortly after release MH games always go on sale. Unlike "certain" companies Capcom actually cares about keeping it's MH community strong. Making the game more affordable and accessible with online play pulls in a lot more customers with friends begging friends to join them. Also I have Toukiden2 on PSVita. This post wasn't about "Don't like the price, don't buy it". Not in the slightest. It's about the sabbotage of the game's community. Which is quite obvious as the game sold a pathetic amount here and basically no sales after just a few weeks of it's release. Also just FYI to everyone the game is the equivilent of only 15$ USD (900RUB) in Russia .
The game at release all things considered shouldn't have been more than 40$. The previous game did not do well, and had failed to create a strong community. This game has mediocre content, and very dated graphics. The gameplay is it's only saving grace but that only lasts so long with repetitive & short content, and poor immersion.

Well, keep in mind that they STILL have the previous Toukiden game priced at $60 on pc for some ungodly reason, didn't help it had a ton of bugs at first as well. "Mediocre content and very dated graphics" I think your head is screwed on wrong but whatever, I enjoyed every second playing this game. The problem isn't the game, it's just Koei needing to adjust with the times and understand that digital distribution is a different beast.

But I wouldn't be surprised iif the DLC for MHW was no longer free and and it not going on sale for awhile. Times are a changing, however Capcom at least understands that sales do get them more money and will sustain a playerbase.

i just wanted ot buy this game but then i saw all the dlcs and even with 30% of its still more expensive than other games, now im gonna buy davyria, deus ex and some soundtracks for far less money :-/ maybe i buy it later when im bored again^^

Yeah, I was a fan of the first Toukiden game, but I really can't justify dropping $60 on a handheld port. And now that there's finally a semi-decent sale on the game, they haven't even marked down the DLC.
