Game keeps freezing randomly

Moving, hailing, docking, closing menu, etc randomly freezes my game. The screen freezes, but music continue.

What caused this and how do i avoid losing my progress?

Hey sorry! I don't know what's going on for you, i'm not getting other reports like this.

Progress is auto-saved every time you transition an area (like from space to planet, etc.), so you should never lose too much.

When you say "freeze" , what exactly do you mean? Music continues, but do on-screen animations continue?

Does it crash with an error report on screen? If so, screenshot that, it's very helpful.

Some people lose keyboard input when they alt-tab or minimize the game. Are you doing this? Try using the mouse, that usually works.

The more information you can give me, the more chance I can fix it.

Nope! The music continues, but on-screen animations freezes, and the whole game window is unclickable

Unfortunately it doesnt seem to crash since i never got that crash error screen. The game just freeze

Nope, I mostly play using the mouse, so whenever the screen freezes, both mouse and keyboard inputs no longer works.

I dunno if this is important but I play the game in windowed mode. The game initially start in windowed mode half the size of my screen so i maximize it. I dunno if this could be the cause but this happens on my laptop too (I mainly play on my PC).

Both of my PC and laptop should be on the mid-higher end spec, one is Intel + Nvidia and one is Ryzen + Nvidia.

Now for the time being when the game freezes, I need to manually close the game window just by clicking X instead of using task manager since I think the game still works normally, but only the screen freezes

go into options
try turning off "send anon data" .
you could unlock the FPS (at very bottom of options)
(I'm reaching here...)

I play in windowed mode all the time, there should be no problem with that.

My thought is maybe it's something on your machine. Do you have the same anti-virus or some other "always on" app running on both machines? Do you have certain other windows open or apps running?

I'm *not* going to tell you to turn off anti-virus, but sometimes it can interfere.

Welp even now I experienced it in the load save screen. I can't click anything.

Also I don't think my progress got saved frequently because the save i got is from yesterday, which I lost 1 hour of playing :(

No more freezing is great. Maybe Balik never tried turning off "send anon data". I did suggest it :)

That further indicates to me that it's probably a local issue re: firewall/anti-virus/etc. , because the communication itself has a time-out and if it ever times out, it won't try again that session.

This is happening for me as well, I will try turning off anon data.

Turning off Anon Data seemed to help, but also, it seems that, if in full-screen, changing screen focus breaks the game.

This is a known issue for some users (doesn't happen to me). Next time you click off the game, look in the upper left where the message log it ;)

It affects many games, including Deep Rock Galactic, and may be related to certain system settings that most people aren't even aware of, here's a quick search:

Sorry for late reply, been busy few weeks back. Well I assure you that I already turned off send anon data, but still got the same freeze

The keyboard input loss is a microsoft windows issue. Unfortunately I've forgotten the setting and how I resolved it. :/

I've got this problem too - its really diminishing the fun of an otherwise exemplary game. I don't see the "option" button that would allow me to turn off the "send anon data" can someone please point me to it so I can give it a go?

Click Options (on main menu, or in a loaded game), then select "Send Anon. Data (On)".
It's the 5th option down from the top (in the loaded game options).
