Leave yourself a note on that ship, keep exploring other places and come back when you have what you need. It's not meant to be a trivial accomplishment.
Life support will probably need a "gadget" to repair anyway, so blow up shipwrecks and search them, you'll eventually find what you need.
development is happening constantly and there will be other ways of getting more specific gadgets in the future.
Good luck!
I will give some feedback:
It is unintuitive that blowing up ships is better than towing them. Presumably there is a salvage option that is better than blowing it up after you tow it.
The fact that you can only get gadgets by blowing up a ship is surprising. If the gadget is in the ship I should be able to get it through towing and properly salvaging it or something.
Add a help pop up explaining gadgets, how to get them, and what they do please.
Page 3 of help (Terminology) does not list gadgets.
I clicked through every UI button I could find but couldn't find what gadgets I own anywhere.
Unrelated to ships:
Half the action buttons are in the top right (Shoot, cloak) and half are in the bottom center (scan, hail). Maybe put those all together so the UI feels less random.
