Align Objects horizontal

I want to align my object horizontal. I tried smart move but it's not working. I grab the object with my right drawing hand, move my non drawing hand beneath my drawing hand along the axis i want it aligned to, pull the trigger and nothing. I tried this with every axis. Not working. Smart move is toggled on.
