planar surface tool and grid bug
If you select the surface tool while having a grid of any density selected, you will find that you cannot draw the point marker to certain grid points. If for example, I tried to use the lowest density grid, then connect three grid points in a row, it would only connect to the first two, but not the third. There also seems to be some weird geometry normal inversion going on, where part of the edge can splinter into 3 distinct strands.

If necessary I can make a video showing these bugs, but it should be pretty obvious..

I have the same issue.

I have reproduced this and will try to get a hotfix up soon

EDIT: hotfix is live

Thanks! I've tested since you pushed the hotfix live and it works well. However, I have noticed another potential bug. If you have the grid enabled, and edit an object you made with surface tool, when you add new control points, the control points won't be snapped to the nearest grid position - they're effectively in free space.

I see your most resent patch fixed that too, thanks!

What version is the fix in? When editing surfaces, I still can't snap most control points to the visible grid, i.e. the points are snapping to a grid of similar snap size as the visual one, but this grid is offset from the visual snap grid.

I'm currently using an executable with file version 2017.1.0.9747, product version 2017.1.0.4662803

Yep. I thought this couldn't be fixed completely. Original issue is fixed. But this one with the offset is a new one.

Thanks guys, will investigate this. Is it an issue with creating new points or moving existing ones? right now moving points will always move them in increments of the grid, but will not resnap them to the grid (because it would cause all nearby points to overlap on exactly the same spot)

Create a new drawing after firing up application. Select Surface tool. Grab the XZ plane and twist it out of alignment with world coords. Switch on Grid mode. Draw a surface on the plane with Mixed Input Mode. I just got the application into a really confused state with these steps. I had to force the application to close.

@Carpet Head - I was talking about editing, so existing points which, for example, were not created on the current snap grid. It's not clear to me why you say that moving and snapping one point to the visible grid would cause nearby points to overlap on the same spot unless you're talking about dragging more than one point at a time (with a larger zone of influence) and thus having to collapse them to the same target snap point. For multiple points, I agree, but if only one point is selected, it should be able to snap to the visible grid.

Thanks for the reports, we will investigate these and figure out a solution that makes more sense
