Do I need a mobile account?

I keep hearing and reading about linking mobile account to Steam account to avoid losing progress, but I don't play on mobile. So is there a risk of losing progress on PC if I don't have a mobile account at all or is this advice just for people who want to play on both platforms?

The main platform is on mobile. If I recall correctly, you don't need to bind to steam to start playing but you won't have the option to reroll/start over if you choose to just play on steam.

A common tactic in mobile gatcha games is to reroll/start over when your first summoned character (or first couple) are not good or of a certain rarity you want. For mobile, you would simply delete the app, redownload, and play through a tutorial again in hopes your next summon(s) is better. For steam however, once you start the game, the progress is linked to your Steam account and you cannot start over if you wish, meaning you lost the ability to have a good start.

Ah, I guess it is safe for me to start playing on Steam then. I won't be linking a mobile account even in the future (my tablet is ancient and the isn't compatible) so no rerolls for me anyway.
