Steam and mobile...
Are mobile and Steam versions linked? Are you able to import your mobile account to Steam and vice versa?

Hello Shigeyama, both versions are linked and playable withthe same account. On PC you will need to scan a QR code with your mobile game and give permissions to acces but will be the same content. IDK how netease will provide the service but in Chinese server you have a Max. posible activities you can do on the PC (Basically limited) because as they say "It is a mobile game".

as soon as i read mobile I knew there was going to be a crap ton of microtransaction, and that nowadays in games is like the WORSE things devs can do, I kinda wish this was a single player game. I would prefer to play it offline and pay a premium price for the FULL game instead of infection it with mobile quality gameplay.

I agree microtransactions suck, but if this game was single player, then that would seriously take out a chunk of the good features of this game. Can't duel, can't hunt, can't co-op shard farm, can't do guild stuff, etc. I mean heck it's f2p. Mobile games like this have ways to play around them. Not as fast as whales do, but still managable. And this one apparantly renowned to be to more playable f2p ones in SEA.

I played this in Japanese for about 6 months before I heard they were developing an English release (I stopped at that point on the Japanese server as I knew my progress would not carry over) however while playing the Japanese version I didn't spend a cent on the game. In months and months of playing never did I feel the need to enhance the game with real money as I do in other games.
I didn't even understand the text or audio and it was an addicting blast to play.

Now that the game is in English I am beyond in love and fully hooked. It has a bit of a learning curve (as do almost all asian mmos) however this games content is 100% playable and enjoyable without spending a dime. It is not pay to win like other asian MMO mobile games like Granblu Fantasy or FGO. The game has so many players world-wide that they get enough income to make the game amazing for free players and they don't need to harass you for money like western mobile games do. I have never once been asked or encouraged to spend money. There's no tutorial that gives you special currency (in this game it is Jade and S-Jade), shows you how you can speed along things in the game by spending it and then forces you to spend what they gave you during the tutorial to encourage you to buy more. It doesn't work like that at all.
Further, there would be no way to make this game single player. In order to make it in this game you have to interact fully with the community every day. You have to add friends, send friendship and likes, join a guild and interact with people daily, sending items and receiving thank you bonuses for doing so in order to maximize the currencies associated with doing those things. The game rewards you handsomly for doing so each day and offers ample opportunity to capitalize on this system. If you go into the game with a "solo climb" mentality, you will fail miserably and quickly and will not enjoy this game at all.

"Microtransactions" in this games context simply mean, if you want to buy special currency to get a fancy skin or something "extra" to add to the base game to make it look better to you then you can. You don't want to do that? You don't have to and you are given tons of opportunity to earn those things rather than buy them. In my opinion grinding for skin tickets to get that special one for my favorite shikigami is half the fun, but I digress...

You experience the same game and have equal chance at climbing the PVP ranks/Guild ranks as players who buy stuff there's only one stream not a "free" and a "pay-to-win" like in other games where theres a discernable difference between the have's and have-nots. It's fair and honest. You can enjoy the full game the same as someone who does spend money to get skins or bonus content because it is just that, bonus content, not required content.

If you take the time to read the info boxes about the different currencies (and I won't lie there are alot of them), help and interact with other players often, learn to work the games mechanics correctly, spend your currencies properly (Hint: Upgrade your Realm to maximize extra AP production) and fully utilize all daily events and quests you will never run out of Action Points (AP) and you will always have in game money to burn on various things. I have never run out of AP I don't think and I play this game roughly 8 hours a day at work. Trust me, this game is an experience above the rest of the "gatcha" collection style games out there. There's a reason it has won as many awards as it has, including Google Play's Most Competitive Game in 2017 and Facebooks Mobile Game of the Year in 2016.

Lumping this game into the "mobile" category is doing it a grand disservice and is highly unfair to it as this isn't a typical mobile game, but rather an amazing MMORPG that is simply available to play on a mobile device. There is a big difference.

Awesome response, thank you for that! that actually gives me faith in this game.

Having an enjoyable F2P experience without spending money isn't about fairness. If a F2P player is legitimately competitive against a high spender without any significant difference in skills, the game is going to die really quick. The issue is that is there enough things to do even if you're just a doormat for a high spender.

In this respect there's a lot to do in Onmyoji, and it's well-spaced out unlike Summoner's War where it ripped off from. In SW there's a huge gap between hitting some 6* units and being able to do the end content so you hit this point where you can't progress without spending a lot more money or just keep on wait for the stuff you need to show up by sheer luck from the meager stuff you're given for logging in. In Onmyoji there's an excessive amount of grinding needed, but this also means there's always some progress to look forward to. It's just not the same to say you need 1 million XP and you get 10K a day, versus getting to a point where each day you're just hoping for the 1% chance the loot you need to progress drops even though they both come out to take roughly 100 days to finish.

Also due to the excessive requirements on anything this makes team play enjoyable. Since you're not going to have everyone geared out even if you're spending a good deal it's a great idea to work out with a few friends so that you focus on say the DPS while he focus on gearing up the healer. This doesn't mean you have no healer of your own, but it'd be time/cost prohibitive to have all top tier characters. This also evens out the luck as if you never got the top DPS characters to show up but you do have a top healer character then you can just be the healer of the group until your luck improves.

I am wondering how the AR summoning will work on PC, especially if a person does not have a camera installed/connected to their computer. Also, wondering if the interface and subtitle is English only or if other language is possible, i.e. Japanese, Simplified and/or Traditional Chinese?

Still haven't tried it on the phone since I never recieved an AR ticket yet (stopped playing to wait) I'd think it's exactly a webcam or or something to that similarity.

I tried the mobile version, and while it is playable, I find that there are instances where the visual does not match up with the voice acting during scenes. The scene would cut to a character much faster than the dialogs.

I did get an AR ticket (though I don't know how I got one, but somehow I did), but didn't test it out. Since it requires that special icon/summon circle to summon in AR.

Also, while the App Store mentioned that the languages supported were English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese; the actuality is only English with Japanese voice acting. There was no option to change the languages at all, and does not allow you to create a name in other languages than English.

You gotta remember the game is in a soft release state to specific areas and has not yet been fully released. There are more changes to come, I'm sure.
Phantron Jan 17, 2018 @ 8:49am
I assume Steam has an early access period because they need to change certain things to accommodate for the AR/location based stuff. I understand in Japan they've this thing about extra bonus for playing with guys nearby so you might want to say go to the local McDonalds where other people are playing the same game for the extra bonus. But this feature makes no sense when you're playing on stationary PCs since you can't just haul one to where there are other players.
