Why is it on Steam and why is it still alive

The first answer is still cashscam with an old terrible cheap Pay2Win game and Valve don´t have a qualitycontroll.

I know that game as the worst MMO ever.
Where GMs are doing nothing other then insulting people and f*ck them up with spawncamping and pulling them to death or spawning mass bosses to kill other people that are grinding.
And they don´t lose the job because they are "normal" players (because 99% of the playerbase are jerks, that only play the game to insult and hate each other) and don´t get any money for it.

For me and the most other people this game was dead allready after release.
The only thing why this exists is because they getting money for holding the server alive because some jerks spend far to much money on this game.

Oh and in this game it´s very easy to steal items out of the shops from other people and hacking in general.
There is no point in playing it or even more stupid use money for buying anything.

Yes, it's possible to play without spending a dime, but keep in mind that you'll need a *LOT* more time/luck/patience when you're trying to get somewhere.

This thread is irrelevant to begin with.

Metin established itself as a game "franchise" as it was played by many people. Due to what is irrelevant (business model).
It has a playerbase that likes and supports the game, so why shouldnt it be on steam?
You can dislike the business model, you can dislike the target audience, you can dislike the playerbase and call it toxic for chatbehaviour.
But i cant see any reason that disqualifies it from being on steam.
At least not contrary to other games that are present.
Following your logic we had to ban all these romantic novel games, all these other anime games, all these wannabe puzzle games, 90% of the MMOs, all the clicker games and so on.

And i can say for sure that i would get alot of hate from people i know for suggesting that. My girlfriend likes to play cheap puzzle games or hidden object games, smply because they are bad and only cost a € or two. And a friend of mine spends hundrets of hours having a clicker running in background. Because reasons. Another friend likes trashy MMOs and he grew up playing Metin.
I think its a trash game, but im not up to task judging his taste of games.

So please bugger off with this attitude of being the steam police of quality control.
I dont want YOU to be in charge of deciding what i or others should like.

I can see other reasons to not allow it, like maliscious ones, or having inappropriate content.
But thats a topic for a different discussion.
At least I couldnt see any valid reason being named till now in this discussion that speaks for not allowing it on steam. A trash store that is a DRM client anyway.

Played it during it's "golden age" when the servers were all busy and the marketplace was filled with hundreds of shops ... No, Hackers and bots killed this game. Gm's were litterally never on and it was pretty frustrating, if you were playing legit and your guild mates - using hacks - made levels and gold 10x faster than you.

Sure some did get caught, but since everyone was using secondary accounts - something I think you can't do when playing the steam version - they had at least one 'legit' account to fall back to which held all their really valuable items.

It´s still possible because it´s the same game with the same client and the same protection.
There will be no VAC bann or anything from sides of valve.
And everyone can have so much Steamaccounts as wanted, but it´s more easy to create a new account for metin 2 not via steam.
And if there is a steam only server then people can and will using multibox for starting steam and via steam metin 2 multible times.

after the corona virus thing i came back to play again, gosh the game has changed a lot!
yeah it's pay to win sadly, and it needs to be graphically updated, Metin 3 would be a great idea, i do play in AE server and there are hundreds of people there, man, arabs pay alot in this game thats why it still running, back in the days it was good but now with new hardware and software they should be making a new Metin, this one is too old.

in 2009 i becaome on the top 10 leaderboard of the game and you know how much i paid?
10$ but you should play it smart
i back to game in 2016 in 2 years i become 120 which is the max level
i didnt even pay 1$ but as i said you should work hard for this game and be smart enough

you cant even play if you didnt pay but in metin2 you can play 2 win
