Steam FAQ / Known Issues
Can I link my existing Metin2 account to Steam?
Initially it will NOT be possible to link your existing Metin2 account to Steam. However, we will offer this option soon, allowing you to gain access to your existing game states and gear via Steam.
Note: A new account will be created as soon as you launch Metin2 for the first time via Steam. In this case it will NOT be possible to link your existing account to the gaming platform! If you want to play on your existing account via Steam in the future, please wait until we have added the option to link the two accounts together.

How can I change the game language / server?
To change the language of your client, right-click “Metin2” in your steam library, choose “Properties”, then go to the “Language” tab and choose the version you’d like. The language you choose, defines the server you will play on.

Is there any country restriction in place?
There is no limitation and you can choose any of the languages available.
For now, due to technical difficulties, it is impossible to play on US server. We are aware of this issue and will try to solve it, as soon as possible.

What does it mean to play Metin2 on Steam?
Steam offers an easy and straightforward way to play Metin2. Once you’re logged into the gaming platform, you can launch and play Metin2 – without any subsequent logins.

Can I only play Metin2 on Steam now?
No, you can freely choose whether you want to play Metin2 via Steam or using the client from the website as before.

Do I have to download the game again if I want to play Metin2 via Steam?
Yes, even if you already have the game installed, you will need to download the client again via Steam.

Does Steam install the full game client?
Yes, Steam downloads the full Metin2 client, however the launcher which opens when you start the game from Steam will no longer patch the client itself. All updates are installed directly via Steam.

What happens when I launch Metin2 for the first time on Steam?
The first time you launch Metin2 from Steam, the game will start directly. Steam will automatically create a new Metin2 account and log in with it for you. (Caution: In this case it will NOT be possible to link your existing account to the gaming platform! If you want to play with your existing account via Steam in the future, please wait until we have added the option to link the two accounts together.) There is no need to select or enter an additional username or password.

Is it possible to use multiple accounts from one Steam account?
No, it isn’t possible to use multiple accounts in parallel on Steam.

Will my account be transferred to Steam?
No, Steam is simply another platform from which to launch the game. As soon as we implement the option of linking an existing Metin2 account to Steam, you’ll be able to decide freely whether you play using the client from the website or via Steam.

Will a separate server be launched for Steam?
No, Steam players will use the regular Metin2 servers.

Can I purchase Dragon Coins directly via Steam?
Yes, you’ll be able to purchase Dragon Coins as premium currency for the Metin2 in-game shop – of course for the same price as the website version. You need funds in your Steam Wallet to do this. A detailed description can be found in our guide: How to Purchase Dragon Coins for Your Metin2 Account on Steam.

I’ve created a Metin2 account on Steam. Can I use it to log into the Metin2 website?
When you create a Metin2 account on Steam, the following applies:
  • For the time being you will not be able to use your account created by Steam to log into the Metin2 website. We are however working to make this possible in the near future.
  • Any items which you have purchased in the item shop for an existing account cannot be transferred to your Steam account by the Support team.
  • The Globetrotter Ticket for server transfers in the item shop is not currently available for the Steam version.
  • Gameforge coupons cannot be redeemed in the item shop on Steam.
Will Metin2 remain free-to-play?
Of course! You can play Metin2 completely free. If you decide to make purchases from the item shop, the Dragon Coins you buy in the Steam version are worth exactly the same amount as those from the website version.

Updates, offers, events and shop discounts
We have special item offers and discounts on an almost daily basis, so it’s always worth paying a visit to the shop to see what’s new. There’s a wide range of products available, from handy accessories and unusual pets through to powerful buff items for epic bonuses.
Keep up to speed with the latest offers and discounts by visiting the ‘News’ section of the Community Hub on Steam or checking out the official forum of your language.

Where can I change my game settings such as the resolution?
Currently when you launch Metin2 from Steam, the optimal resolution for your monitor is not determined automatically. Here’s how to change that manually: Open your Steam library and right-click on Metin2 (either the game icon or the title in the list, depending on which library view you use). Select ‘Launch Configuration Tool’ and then make the changes to your game settings as required.
