Joypad problem?
I have an X-Box type of controller and although I selected "joypad" for player 1, the game does not respond to it. Is this a bug, or is it possible that my controller isn't compatable with the game?

I got a genuine wired 360 controller and it works without any problems.

Hi,
Do your joypad is installed on the Port 1 of PC?

Seep - I'm not sure I understand...It's USB...Where could I find this? I just checked the Device Manager and couldn't find a reference to "port 1" (I recall "port 1" being related to serial buses, but that's going back a while!)

Hi jeffirok,
You can change the port of gamepad from Control Panel
like here: http://i66.tinypic.com/15yhzl0.jpg

It worked! Very nice! Thanks! I wasn't aware of this setting! I'll spell out what I did to help anyone who may have the same problem in the future.

  • From the Control Panel, I selected "Devices and Printers"
  • I right-clicked the controller I was having the problem with (it needs to be plugged in!) and selected "Game Controller Settings"
  • This brought up the "Game Controllers" box ("Periferiche di goico" on the graphic -seep- posted)
  • I then clicked "Advanced..." ("Avanzate...")
  • That brought up "Advanced Settings" ("Impostazioni avanzate")
  • My joypad was set on "none" in the "Preferred device" ("Perferica preferita") drop-down. From the dropdown, I only had the one selection (in my case, it was "Controller (Gamepad F310)). I selected it, and it now works!

It states this setting is for use with older programs, so I don't anticipate any performance change with other programs...My guess is it's a virtual "port 1" serial port setting for compatibility with older program. That reminds me...I have some older programs (Keen and others) which I use JoytoKey on...I wonder if I don't need to anymore...?

In any event, this worked perfectly - thanks again -seep- !
