You can play in any of them.
You can register here: https://en.nostale.gameforge.com/user/register
But let's say, I wanted to access the US servers with my EU account...Is that possible at all? (Not a good feeling, being forced to have multiple accounts if you want to play in other regions, when the content should be the same)
It just really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, that NosTale has these kinds of issues after so many years..
But if you spend several hours downloading the game, only to find out, you still can't start playing with your friends.. that's clearly an oversight in designing the multi-region system.
I understand the need for seperating game versions to not have localisation be in the way for releases. But especially the barrier between German and English servers/clients should be nonexistant. My best guess is, that these decisions were made early on, and it's too much work to put in(and jobs on the line), if you want to fuse the servers. Otherwise, they'd already done it.
Just one thing, I want to say... Going on Steam without giving the choice of region is stupid. It applies for the majority of people. But it only reinforces already broken down borders between player bases and long established friendships.
