switch pro controller not working

i just recently built my PC and this was my first purchase since then. i have my switch pro controller wired (because my build doenst have wifi or bluetooth ) and i went to play, and saw that the stick didnt work, and it was dpad only. i went to the configs menu and clicked on "Pro Controller" and all of a sudden, a menu popped up, all the configs were unbound, and it closed, all in the span of around 1 second. ive tried doing it multiple times, but each time it just messes up every bind and closes super fast, if not instantly. what did i do wrong? i dont have any other controllers lyin around so this is all i got.

Try Steam Settings -> Controller -> General Settings
Then tick Use Nintendo Layout
I had to do this for GGXRD, basically steam handles controller input and feeds it to the game, should work fine from there without any other crap. But you can config in steam settings further as well mate.

thanks for your answer, but i managed to figure it out by going into the local files and having the appropriate button number replace the 0's that they were replaced with.
