Best control settings for keyboard?
So i don't have a controller (just a joystick not compatible) and i don't know if leaving the default settings is ok, i'm totally new in this game, love it so far but i don't know what exactly
stability assist and counter-steering factor do...
any suggestion?
thanks
EDIT: also, if someone here plays with keyboard, what are your keys? Like i use arrows for accelerate/brake and left/right
v and b for shifting (i find ctrl and shift too far since i use the arrows) and the space bar for the parking brake
it's not the best setup i guess but i'm not so used to these genre of arcade/race games so i don't know what's the common setup is if you use keyboard

as i play with a gamepad, it will take someone else to explain what they prefer for keyboard settings, but i can explain the settings themselves a bit.

they exists to allow the player to essentially tune the behavior of the cars to suit the type of experience they find most enjoyable. a bit easier, to a bit harder. to provide more direct control over the car, or somewhat less.

stability assist works similar to traction control systems on modern cars where it tries to limit the rotation of the vehicle based on speed and slip angle. to put it simply, a high stability assist setting helps the user by preventing them from spinning out so easily. a low setting or turning it off allows the user full control over the rotation of the car, at any speed or angle, but can lead to a loss of control.

countersteer factor of 100% means whether steering or countersteering, the amount of steering output is the same based on user input. increasing the countersteer factor means user input will be magnified in the steering output while countersteering. lowering countersteer factor below 100% dampens this effect so the steering output is lower than the users steering input while countersteering.
how this works in practice is how much the car reacts while countersteering. this means it may be more easy to correct slides with at a greater angle, but can lead to fishtailing if over correction leads to over correction leads to over correction.
many players prefer the predictability of 100%.

even though not keyboard specific, hopefully this helps you understand a little better what these terms mean.

others may chime in with keyboard specific comments other thoughts later.

thanks! btw my old flightstick joystick DOES work with this game, but it doesn't feel...right
maybe it's the 3rd person visual? I used it a lot with beam.g drive, Colin McRae etc. but in 1st person

I play with keyboard and use the arrow keys for steering / throttle / brake, and L and . period to shift gears. These are the settings I use to drive comfortably:

In "options > gameplay":
- stability assist > 20% (you could start with more if the cars feel too wild or you're playing a lot of weather set to rain / snow)
- counter-steer factor > 100%
- anti-lock braking > 10%

In "options > controls > advanced settings"
- steering sensitivity > 0%
- brake sensitivity > 100%
- throttle sensitivity > 0%

thanks! i'm thinking to get a controller anyway, not tomorrow, but this game deserves it
actually i'm starting to improve even with stability assist at 0% and steering and throttle at 50% (default)
it's a combination of little inputs and not too big steering, also downshift
of course i just bought the game yesterday so i still have to see all the cars and tracks
i don't know instead about the dead zone controller specific settings, but for now, as i said i tried the joystick (flightstick designed for flighsims) but it feels...weird, maybe it's the field of view, or the visual in 3rd person, i can't explain
