It might work. The workshop itself should support large uploads, but I'm not sure if the uploader has been fixed to accomodate it.

I might as well upload some text file as a mod to workshop and link a mediafire download link to the description of the page.

Hard Rain: Downpour is a 400 MB download, so it seems to be possible. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=306243689

My mod currently is that big but it will probably be 1GB or larger.

It's also ultimately limited by your Steam cloud limit, which is 1GB for L4D2. I think it compresses the fle for the upload and counts that size though.

You could try to upload a large file to the workshop to see if it works.

@__MaZ__o : I think that the size limit is approximately 216Mb. I try to upload stuff below 199Mb, and it usually works. I'm not sure it will with 400Mb though :P. If it's 1Gb, it will probably not let you upload it in one part. Just make multiple parts then.

The file size limit was originally 256mb. Valve upped it to over 400mb without documentation (they mentioned that the Skyrim workshop would take 400mb files, and upped other games at the same time). Because of the lack of documentation, we don’t actually know what the current upper limit really is.

kk
Yeah the site still says around 200mb but its been changing without being updated so its hard to tell what its at now, as well as even tho theres the "limit" you could technically upload something thats bigger than the limit, it just means that theres a higher potential for the upload / clients downloading it to get fragments or corrupted vpk's from the download.

Or at least last i was aware it doesnt reject your upload and say something like "file to large" unless its more than your cloud space available, but it has been a while so it might now.

My mod requires the sounds to be directly replaced so it doesn't matter how big the limit is. Thx anyways
