XSI Mod Tool 6.01 and 7.5 Problem

I've been googling around for a few hours, and couldn't find any solutions, so i figured i would ask around here since there are plenty of knowledgeable people here.

I'm trying to create mods for the survivors, and I've been following This Guide[sites.google.com].
I got to the part for importing my smd file to Mod Tool.
I've been trying to do that with various programs, Autodesk Softimage 2015, XSI Mod Tool 7.5, XSI Mod Tool 6.01, all with the ValveSource 6.0.2 addon installed. (Of course, the plugin doesn't work for Softimage 2015, so that was out of the question).
When importing a .smd file on XSI Mod Tool 7.5, I encountered an error which was "Failed to save scene before system failure." Immediately after, XSI stopped responding and crashed.
I decided to do a clean install of XSI 7.5 and try again, with the ValveSource addon reinstalled. The same problem occurred.

After googling (again), I stumbled upon XSI 6.01, and read somewhere that the ValveSource addon doesn't work with 7.5.
So, I uninstalled 7.5, and installed 6.01 and tried everything again.
Same error, right after importing my .smd file.
I'm basically out of solutions at this point, because I've found nothing to help so far.

If it helps, I also have 3DS Max 2017 and Maya 2017 installed, although I haven't tried them out yet.

I'm also running Windows 10, 64-bit.

If anyone has any solutions to help fix my problem that would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Following This[sites.google.com], i noticed that using XSI Mod Tool seems to be a bit obselete. I already had 3DS Max installed, and noticed there was a script called wall worm. I'm installing it at the moment, so i'll update to see if it works or not.

Blender with Source tools is also the option.
