Step 2. Get the Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools from the tools section of your library. This will include the vpk.exe required to pack your mod.
Step 3. Modify your sound. It has to match the original Tank music in number of audio channels, which in this case should be stereo, frequency, which should be 44100hz or something like it, and nominally, length. Bonus points if you make it loop nicely. When you're done it all needs to be saved as a .wav 16-bit PCM file, named tank.wav.
Please note that there is another file named taank.wav, which is longer and only plays on finales when the Tank shows up. You may want to make a sound for this as well.
Step 4. Re-create the file structure to the Tank music. Something like [mod name]/sound/music/tank, and that last folder is where you put your sound.
Step 5. Get an addoninfo.txt template from the internet. Google left 4 dead 2 addoninfo.txt, that should get you close. Modify it to your needs and place it in your root folder.
Step 6. Locate the vpk.exe in your left 4 dead 2/bin folder. Should be near the bottom. Drag your root folder with everything else inside onto the vpk.exe and if all goes well, you'll get a mod; [mod name].vpk.
Step 7. Take your VPK and place it in your left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/addons folder and give it a test in game. If it sounds okay, congratulations, you've made a sound mod!

What do I do about those ones?
As for the vpk.exe missing, I'd first say make absolutely sure you're going to the Steam/SteamApps/common/left 4 dead 2/bin folder. If your computer can do a file search, give that a try.
If that doesn't do anything, a few other topics on the subject say to try deleting and re-downloading the L4D2 Authoring Tools.
Y'see, I want to replace both the normal and the finale tank themes, but during the testing, I only got the normal tank theme during a finale. Any help?
I have heard this may be a problem with mutation mods, such as Rayman's Mutation Mod. I've gotten it myself on occasion, I can't say for sure what could be causing it.
The regular tank theme plays in finales at the start, ofc, but after you've called for help "taank" begins playing, so in short.
Finale started - tank
Called for rescue - taank
So friend this problem no one notices, but to solve is very simple. Remover your Admin System or anything related to it, as it is a conflict with the file taank.wav.
You may notice that by the time the sound should start it plays for only 1 second, but it starts the tank.wav instead of letting it play the tank finale.
I do not know the reason for the conflict but unfortunately you will have to disable the mod if you want to hear the sound.
