Allow Hosts to Instantly Kick People
The only thing I absolutely HATE about Left 4 Dead 2 multiplayer is that the host cant kick people and is forced to vote kick instead (which takes like 5 minutes to start again). This is really bad when ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stay outside shooting zombies instead of getting in the safe house like they should.

You can console kick on local hosted servers if you type kick name into console. Other than that if it's not on your computer you are generally equal to the rest

I agree and disagree with this. On one hand, if a person comes into a game & griefs then yes. They should be kicked. But on the other hand, it opens up to abuse. If 3 players are playing a certain way & the host does not like that. Then the host can kick and / or sabotage it for the other 3.

Maybe change the way you vote kick. It seems to work most of the time with me. If I notice a griefer / troll joins my game, I notify the other players on my team as to why I am doing the vote kick. It usually works. Try it next time.

what would u know, mr.meganoob
i agree and kind of dissagree with host being allowed to kick some one who is being bad by attacking teamates runing on a head, lagging behind aka staling, leaving teamates on the ground in danger, rude comments and mean words toward anyone, and also being IDLE to much. But still its also good to allow the other teamates to vote to because you never know you could be the only one wanting to kick somebody when the other 2 people may not care. So in away i do care and then i dont care, so im kind of on both sides.

Its the host's game, I don't see why thats a problem. IMO the host SHOULD have uncontested kicking rights, but the game should also allow you to name/describe the game you're hosting, to say things like "no rush, no crawl, no newb, newbs only, getting achieve, etc"

Sometimes you'll have people who go idle and the game doesn't allow you to even start votekick, and that is really annoying. If you allowed lobby leaders to kick, then eventually the community would police itself to a point where the kick-happy lobby leaders would all be banned by the sensitive newbs, and we would have less of a "the community sucks" problem now.

The only workaround at the moment is to host your own dedicated server (there's a package on l4dmaps.com for it) and add yourself as admin so you can kick. It sucks, but that's the only way you can do it. Alternatively, you can minimize and start downloads until people get fed up of the lag and leave.

Well that is what 3rd party servers are for. In regards to official dedicated, what's there right now is good I.M.O.

In regards to describing what current game, when new players join my games I explain what type of game it is. If we are rushing then i say so. If we play like the usual way then i say nothing. Since most people that join automatically assume that.

Honestly the instant kick system works really well because there are so many hosted games that even if you do get kicked you can just join another near-instantly.
MajorCow Aug 18, 2013 @ 11:13am
Local host CAN kick other player by console
Oh wait, 96 hrs on record
Another newbie
