chat key bindings

Anyone know why every time i start the game and get into a server i have to always reset my chat key button.i know its a simple thing to do but its getting real annoying.i do it on the main screen under options and it works while im playing that go but if i switch the game off then play it agian later i have to put the keys back on again??

Any help please??

type: write.cfg in the console then it should save, or just once you have the bind - close the game properly and restart it should then save.

If your game crashes or exits in a non standard way then it wont save the binds.

You sure that's the right command? I tried typing it in but it says it's an unknown command

ahh soz my bad, i was thinking of something else, best bet is to make an autoexec.cfg go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\cfg and make a new txt file in the text file add your key binds then when you save it name it "autoexec.cfg" without quotes.

Note: when saving it - Save as -> and Choose UTF-8 instead of ANSI or Unicode. Also make sure you don't save it as "autoexec.cfg.txt" (it should be autoexec.cfg)

I am having this problem. Why does it happen? Why do I need to do all that ^ to make a simple keybind stick?

I exit the game properly every time.

bind kp_end "say !infinite_upgrade all laser_sight"
bind kp_downarrow "say !infinite_upgrade all explosive_ammo"
bind kp_pgdn "say !infinite_upgrade all incendiary_ammo"
bind kp_home "say !revive all"
bind kp_uparrow "say !give all first_aid_kit"
bind kp_pgup "say !give all adrenaline"
just copy it and paste it, dont forget to save it in file>save
