Official servers DDoS attacks
Maybe that there was already a discussion about this before (probably), but I'm getting pissed of kids Ddosing the server I play on just because his team his losing. Thing is, do the developers of this game regularly update the servers or they just stopped taking care of them a while ago?

Stoped caring along time ago. Most people when DoSing are using an srcds exploit thats been around for 3+ years now. The competitive community made their own patches years ago valve just doesnt give a fkcu. Whats gonna make them more money? Patching one of thousands of holes in their netcode or making another hat/trading card for idiots to buy on the market?

I agree...I would have been surprised if they actually cared about their servers lol.

Not sure if anyone here knows what DDoS actually is. Random people CAN'T DDoS a server till it gets overloaded. It requires that thousands of computer in, most normally, botnets that attacks the same server at the same time. So i seriously doubt random people in L4D2 can do that because they are losing. People with botnets doesn't even bother playing games since they usually are only after taking down bigger sites on the web but not servers for games.

Really, How come I get ddossed on demand then?, A botnet follows the server i am playing in and kills it?, cause im pretty sure Not every servers are being attacked at same time, and for overload, is 2300MS on 8 persons a good overload?
Mr. Beh Jul 30, 2013 @ 3:52pm
Proxy, you're completely wrong about the fact that random people can't ddos. You should have noticed by now that DDoS programs are sold on the internet, and that you only need the server IP address to send an attack, simple as that. However, CREATING the program is something hard, but once it's done, any1 can use it very simply. And i'm not sure that when everyone has 999 ping on the server until the connection to it is lost is a faulty internet connection rofl.

You as a single person CAN'T get DDoS ed. And no. 2300 MS is not a good overload. If there was an actual DDoS attack you would get dropped from the server and the server would not be able to hold any players at all. A botnet is something that a thousand to a million peoples computer are together infected by a virus to make them do whatever the main computer wills. What i can see is that either you have a problem with package loss. (are you on wireless?)
Otherwise you could also have a faulty network card. Faulty network cards work 100% well one moment and then goes to hell and are super slow the other moment.

That is the most stupid thing i ever heard... My internet is Wired, it is WAY Enough to run the game, and 2300MS fyi, is UNPLAYABLE, even having hard time to call a vote/write in box, all 8 PLAYERS have the same lag at same time, and When i change server, the same thing happens after 2-3 minutes of being in that new server.

that is called a track-DDoS, and yes, it is happening, Before you post something else go inform yourself of what can be done over those bad servers with no protection.
And for the disconnection, it is after 30 seconds of innactivity : that means 30, 000 MS Ping, ... hence why i and They ( other players ) dont get disconnected.

....... You can download a DDoS program any day from the internet for free. Heck, you can even try DDoS by typing in "ping serverip" in the cmd. BUT! I say it again. DDoSing requires THOUSANDS of people to attack the server at the very same time. So really. If 10 people decides to attack one server. The server won't even budge. Nothing will happen.

If you still want to bother about random Distrubuted Denial of Service attacks, here is links where you can educate yourself in the field:

It requires hundreds of computers to attack one server, you're right on this. What do you think a DDoS program is for?

So retarded, Im saying that EVEN though I change server, SOMEONE TRACKS my Official servers IP and DDoSes it.
Then I change game, And yet after 1-2 minute the DDoS of the NEW SERVERS IP, Gets DDoSed. And this for all day/week longs.

If you never got attacked by a random dude that decided u deserved to get ddossed, then dont ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ write anymore okay?
Bubble Blast Jul 30, 2013 @ 4:44pm

Track DDoS= tracing DDoS attacks to try to stop the DDoSing.
Im talking here about single individuals attacking single servers. Specificed, and servers that I am playing on, Not any other but the one I am on. How would that be?

The DDoS program does the work of ONE computer. The other computers must be infected with a worm and turned into zombies as they are called. Zombie computer-army of thousands of people are called a botnet. And it is botnets that is required to be able to do something against a server. Otherwise there is pure hacking is involved. And no kiddy is able to do that. Ever wondered why the guys behind botnets never get caught? These people are real intelligent. And now i mean a lot above avarange and has loads of compter experience. DDoS as an individual (the program) is used for example by the "so called" group anonymous which people either vulentarly went into the botnet OR they got into an IRC (chat client) to vote and to target specific servers and then everyone opens the program and starts DDoSing. One of the big targets that has been taken down is the FBI and mastercard. So you can concider the power in a a DDoS attack when they can take down Goverment homepages at ease.

If I get ddossed tracked again, Ill make a wonderful video so you see what actually happens.
Mr. Beh Jul 30, 2013 @ 4:49pm
You said it required thousands of ppl to DDOS a server. A DDOS PROGRAM CONTAINS THOUSANDS OF PPL, just like you explained, there are worms on their computers. That's why it's so easy to attack servers at the moment because the only thing you need is the server address. And let's say I was wrong. Explain me what makes the server I play on go up to 10,000 ping like that.
Uber Jul 30, 2013 @ 4:52pm
This is sad...Ddos has become very common and ive had my accusations of being the ddoser when really i was being ddosd chased. This is a very sad attempt to get revenge off of a pointless game people have lost on. This should be stopped in the future with valve servers with adding decent firewalls to them and to actually care about servers.
Mr. Beh Jul 30, 2013 @ 4:56pm
No mate, the loss of packages + bad internet wouldn't cause me to make every darn server i go on crash. And by the way, when the pings go up that high, the server eventually crashes and I drop from the server. And there are DDoS programs at the moment using thousands of computers (the one who sends the attack is included too) that are available on internet. Maybe that I don't fully understand how a DDoS botnet attack works, but trust me, if you would be in my situation, seeing another guy telling you that it's a simple loss of package or a bad internet provider causing this, it would make you laugh.
