sv_cheats 1 won't work.

I run on a mac and for l4d2 my sv_cheats 1 won't work on the custom map tank playground. In the main menu I put map tanksplayground it loads up and then I put in sv_cheats 1 then it says sv_cheats set to 0. It says to go to main menu and put in the maps name and the cheats still don't even work after that! The cheats worked yesterday but not today. Please help!

To run sv_cheats 1 on a local server, you have to start from the console in the main menu - enter in sv_cheats 1, then start the map with map <mapname>.

... This problem happens to me too :/
First restart your l4d2 game.

1. From main menu, go in campaign mode, create a lobby, Make it >LOCAL HOST<, Start the game.

2. Open DEV.Console, Type it in -- SV_Pure 1

3. On the DEV.Console Again, Type it in -- MAP C1 -- ( No need to put more It is just to get in main menu once again, and is required. )

4. Now that you are in Main Menu, Open DEV.Console once again and write --- MAP YOURMAPNAME YOURGAMEMODE --

5. You should load your map and be able to use sv_cheats 1.

Note: If you are going to make a Versus OR Scavenge Game.... Use -- SB_ALL_BOT_GAME 1
Note: It is possible to make your friend join, Just find your ip, ( you have to get ports 25000 - 25050 opens ), Once you get your Ip your friends open their console and write -- Connect YOURGAMEIP .



Few tricks......
Sb_stop 1 ( Stops the bots )
vs_max_team_switches 999 ( What it says.. )
Director_stop ( stops all commons and Special Infected attacks )
Give ITEMNAME ( Gives you what you want ... ( find out on your own ))
Z_spawn YOURSPECIALINFECTEDNAME ( Spawns an infected of your choice )

And thats it, have fun.

You shouldn't be in a multiplayer server. Start a local server from the console. Just follow the instructions which Bubble Blast listed above. Good luck!

how can i start lone gunmen fron the console? that is what i want to play, and that is a 1 player only game mode.

Just type "map" and then choose the desired one from the list.

e.g.
Dead Center
map c1m1_hotel
map c1m2_streets
map c1m3_mall
map c1m4_atrium

When you're in the main menu press ` and then when it comes up with the console, type in
map c and that will give you a list of maps from the campaign, then once you're loaded in the map press ` again and type in the developer console, sv_cheats 1 If this doesn't work please PM Me back.

Just type on console:

sv_cheats 1 (if you want to play with cheats)
map c1m1_hotel mutation17
