Normal is more difficult than Advanced and Expert
Okay, this is not a noob-hate thread, but this past week I have been on a l4d rampage. Playing it the moment I wake up in the morning until the afternoon (when I finally get bored and play Tf2 or the sims).

But, I have noticed something, Normal is more difficult than advanced and expert....Now it may not appear so to the naked eye, but from experience and playing with friends (and other l4d veterans), we all know what to do on expert and advanced. So it's easier to progess. We know what to look out for, we know what to do and what not to do.

People who are new to the l4d series typically don't know what to do or sometimes they do but have a little difficulty getting used to the game. Everyone was new at some point so you can't blame them. These people typically play on normal and easy. Easy is just easy, but from what I am finding in playing with the newbies on normal is that I CONSTANTLY have to look out for them. As I stated before in advanced and expert, it's easy because everyone (most of the time) knows what to do, especially when you play with friends, but on normal since you are playing with newbies, it's incredibly more difficult....

Anyone else feel like this, who are l4d veterans?

Yeah I see what you're getting at.

Although I don't mind playing with the beginners every once in a while because I try to help them when I can and also give them tips when possible. The worst part is when they completely ignore any advice and do the absolute opposite... As a results of them doing so it causes everyone to die.

The issue is even worse in versus as the beginners can't play with much skill on survivors or infected! I would have thought it was common sense to get to know the campaigns (Even if it's just vaguely), before attempting to play in any sort of competitive game modes.

This is a correct observation. Newer people to the game don't know some of the basics and haven't figured out the teamwork/sticking together thing is critical. It's O.k. they will learn, but this fundamentally ramps up the difficulty level and can actually make for a challenging "Normal" in ways I don't expect. For that reason I still play Normal a lot, you never know what you are gonna get.

Exactly! You guys reinforce the point a lot! and I relate Doom. I have had more than a number of times when the entire team has died simply because no one follows a simple bit of advice or as MunkeyThrust pointed out, people won't stick together.

When I go over to Advanced, things roll much smoother because everybody (mostly) knows what to do. The chaos you can encounter on Normal is probably closer to the reality of a real zombie apocalypse; people shooting each other, wrong turns, tripping and stumbling around etc. Remember in reality you would be running these maps for the first time too, just like a noobie.

Then people cry over cvars and plug-ins that changes the gameplay, even the decent or minor changes. Face it, L4D2 is having too many double standards and vicious circles.

I'm too scared to go anywhere near Advanced or Expert based off of how bad I did in Crash Course on Normal. :tank:

I went back & tried all the L4D 2 maps on Expert in Single Player again. Yes it was harder. But not impossible. I made it through with some bad things happening here & there. You just need to be patient & not let it frustrate you.

I for one enjoyed the update. This game was not that hard in the first place. A extra dose of challenge is what this game needed I.M.O. Players now need to be more careful. Have better attention to the surrounding on the maps. And work with other human players overall. Which again I.M.O was kind of lacking.

Good points all around. There's more to keep track of when playing with the rookies (not that that's a bad thing necessarily; they have to learn somehow). Keeps us sharp, too.

LOL, Normal is a joke. The only way you lose on normal are noob players.

Why not making your own thread instead of necroposting? It's more than 10 years old in the past...
