What Happened To Spectating Noclip

I remember previously being able to noclip around the map while spectating (Including while you're dead as either survivour or infected in versus).

It was quite a while ago since I last used it and if I remember correctly you only needed to press space bar or the left and right mouse button. (To switch between spectating modes: first person, third person and then the noclip).

Is it just me who can no longer do this?
I'm not even able to switch between first and third person, it's continuously on third person.
I was wondering did Valve remove this feature or something (What happened to it)?

Any information is appreciated and thank you in advance.

EDIT: I'm not sure what caused me to be unable to use the spectating but after seeing some friendly advising me to restore my defaults I thought it's worth a try. After I attempted it I joined a game and discovered that it now works! Thank you for all of your comments and for your help. Also if you have the same problem try restoring your defaults first as that's what helped resolve the issue for me.

If you were on a third party server they may have disabled free-roam spectating. Also don't forget to check your multiplayer options to make sure you have free-roam enabled (can't remember the specific option for it, but it's in there).

If you have spec free-roaming on, remember to try hitting the space bar once. That gets you out of orbit mode.
Yeah, that's basic, but I'm just making sure we're covering all bases.

I had a quick check for the option to enable spectating noclip although I did not see anything relating to it.

Maybe someone could give me a little extra help and give me a specific name for the option I'm searching for.

Found the option for it "Spectating Free Look" is what it's called.
When I found the option it was already enabled yet I haven't been able to use it?

So you're only able to switch between first person and third person spectating? Also, is this across multiple servers? As some servers will disable the ability to free-spec.

I can't even switch between first person and third person, it's stuck on third person...
Also, yes - I can't use the free look on any servers that I've played on recently, so looks the majority of them might have disabled it. That's a shame...

well if you can't even switch between first person and third person spectating then the chances are your bind for doing so isn't set correctly. Whatever key you have +jump set to should allow you to switch between spectating modes of first person/third person/free-spectate. It's actually pretty rare for a server to disable free-spectate.

well if you can't even switch between first person and third person spectating then the chances are your bind for doing so isn't set correctly. Whatever key you have +jump set to should allow you to switch between spectating modes of first person/third person/free-spectate. It's actually pretty rare for a server to disable free-spectate.

The weird thing is that spacebar is the key which I've binded to jump...

Are you saying that when you hit spacebar, you can't enter specate free look? Normally, hitting the spacebar lets you move your camera around the map in freecam mode. Clicking your mouse button (left one) lets you see either in first person of another player/bot, then clicking your mouse button makes it go into a third person of the player. Usually.

If it doesn't work, you could try validating your game or reinstall it to see if that works. Normally hitting the spacebar lets you go into freecam mode.

Correct I can't go in to the free look mode when I press the spacebar...

I have already reinstalled it but nothing was altered, I will try validating the game next!

If you can't find the right bind command, you could always reset all of your keys to default. I had to do that once to be able to switch sides in v.s. gameplay because I binded something to "m" and I couldn't find a command to switch sides.

I had the same issue once but it worked after tapping the spacebar twice or thrice, then revalidating the game when it no longer worked. If that doesn't work, you could try binding it to a different key if that is possible.

Otherwise, I am not entirely sure what could be causing the issue. It could be that servers turned it off, but that would have to be custom servers since valve's official servers wouldn't have disabled it. It could also be possible that a mod (if you are using any) could be causing the conflict.

I will attempt resetting all of my keys to default because I couldn't find an option to bind it to a chosen key and I will see if that resolves the issue. Yes, it could be the servers but as said above by Azimuth it's pretty rare for that to happen and also including what you've stated.

No mods will not be causing any problems as I previously removed them because they were reducing my fps which resulted in my games running slow. (Why that happened is unknown, I only had about 7 or something like that - it wasn't a large number).
However those mods were L4D2 not the original - Yet I'm unable to use the spectating free look on either of the games...

Thank you all for your comments/suggestions and for your help, the issue has now been sorted thanks to someone mentioning to try restoring my defaults. I don't know what caused the issue but it sure helped resolve it. :)
