Alt+Tab crashes game or doesn't let me back in
So after the latest update whenever I'm in a game and press Alt+Tab the game will either freeze right away or it minimizes to desktop and when I click on the taskbar icon to get back in it doesn't work and I have to close the game in Task Manager. Task Manager also shows a high amount of memory being used for L4D2. Like 1 GB more than it should.

This only happens when I'm actually in a game. If I'm at the main menu and I Alt+Tab then it works correctly and uses a normal amount of memory. Anybody else experience this? I've verified my game cache twice already without any success.

Some games freeze the screen when you alt+tab, and others no.

You should check graphic settings, mine was disorderly after the update.

Yea but L4D2 never used to freeze when I hit alt+tab.

The display mode "Windowed (without borders)" allows me to alt+tab without any problems but it doesn't remember the setting when I exit. It always goes back to "Full Screen". It also uses the same amount of memory like what I experienced in my original post; increases it by 1-1.5 GB. Kinda insane. Do you know where the video options are stored in the .cfg files?

Ok I've figured out the problem. It's the V-sync global setting in Nvidia control panel. I had it set to something other than the default "Use the 3d application setting". The last L4D2 update now requires V-sync (and the other 3d settings) to use the default settings in your graphics card options. This was confirmed by a person from Valve I spoke to.

You need to read the comments to the end..., or you need to make a new thread if your problem is new, instead of necroposting an old thread.
