New Horde Spawning Mechanic?

I'm noticing that infected hordes are tending to spawn instead of, 'spawning zone as far away as possible' to, 'closest area out of sight' -- I'm noticing this a lot lately in Dead Center as well where they will spawn right outside a door in the middle of a hallway just out of sight of the doorway when they previously would spawn much farther down the hall.

They've been spawning pretty much right on top of me last time I played and this certainly isn't the Dark Carnival Concert bathroom thing we're talking here. The only reason that happens is because there isn't really anywhere else for them to spawn from.

I don't think it's new. I'm pretty sure hordes did that in the first game as well, just not all of the time.
Basically a horde/SI can come from any area you can't see. I've seen hordes pile out of a bathroom stall(just one stall, not the whole bathroom), and even out of the back of a truck that I had just left.
