~realistic characters, different story
~arcade gameplay, similar to Back 4 Blood game system
~different environment, atmosphere, visual style overall, sounds, animations;
So what I personally do love in beta its hud system liek in back 4 blood with debufs and bufs for players, some upgrades and abilities, I wouldnt play it so much, but I still love to see it as different mode in the game, like we have now mutations at least.
The game had stylish white saferoom doors with graphity and signs, I do like this white door design. Survivors had legs and arms on the ladders like in Dark Messiah game... Also there were interesting full weapon reloading animations, even they could be like in killing floor 2 with random triggers. And common infected models and textures they werent so grey as in l4d1. l4d2-l4d1 common infected kinda received those lovely textures, in some pieces because its a remake.
I guess that's exatly what I do like in beta version, the design and art style.
ps: there were credibly some scripted events like in resident evil 6 and back 4 blood, for bridge in death tall, and survivors supposed to comment description for campaigns or at least in the cinematic scenes, any of that were scrapped and we have unfinished leftovers inside of the game.
If they wanted to make game simplier, I think could the best choice to save that version of the game as a side mode in game or something. If they wanted to cut the graphics to sell more, they could leave an option to keep graphics with high textures for the players that could allow themselves such a luxury. Level and models had lower amount of polygons, that might be true though. But the textures my friend, the textures and other effects, its been awesome. So yeah, at least they could have a separate storage for a high quality patch for anyone that want it or whatever.
Something like giving your weapon to another player. If this was added in l4d now as a mod, it would be a cool and unique thing that everyone would love. If it had been in the base game since release, it would likely be seen for what it really is; a niche and almost entirely pointless function that barely anybody would seriously use. Hence, it gets cut to make the game simpler for the average player and reduce its file size (not like today when every game is 100GB+ and nobody cares about being able to install more than 5 games at a time).
