Mods crashing for unknown reason
Hello. I recently installed around 100 mods off of the Workshop. When I only had 20-ish I was able to load up the game, select them all, and play after fixing conflicts with little issue.

However, now, after waiting for them to all load in-game in the Add-Ons menu, I go through unchecking them all so I can only use the ones I want at the time. BUT, there's a 50% chance that if I click on the mod itself (to see the description), the game crashes for no apparent reason. The mod is in the addons folder, as is the image to go along with it. I have enough memory and a rig plenty powerful to play L4D2, and I've even deleted all the mods, reinstalled the game, and then tried it over and it keeps happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

You obviously have too many mods installed. Try unistalling the mods you don't use.

I've heard of people having way more and not having issues. Is the amount really a problem, especially if my PC has enough processing power to handle it all?

It seems to be a weird one. Me and a friend try to keep matching mods, but my laptop handles more mods better than hers. Multi-part campaigns especially upset her system, whereas normally mine is fine. Honestly, I don't know what the issue is, but it seems to be one!

As Mama Luigi said, I'd uninstall some. Unless you have slow or dodgy internet, you can soon resubscribe. That's what my friend does!

I run well over 100 mods on my Left 4 Dead 2 (not all active, of course) and I've usually had little issue with checking my Addons menu. It freezes for a while, but it rarely ever crashes as you described. I'm guessing one or more of your mods is to blame. Try deleting them in controlled batches, maybe five each time and see if the problem clears up.

Iv'e heard the same as well. Often times the issue is unknown even when you know the mod has been working for a long time even after the last update. Some reason the game stops working with mods correctly causing it to crash often without warning just to start working later on for days on end. Happened way too many times with me I just quit dont play for a time then I come back to have no problems with them. The process repeats over and over.

I have the same issue. I got a bunch of mods for L4D2, and I only really use essential ones for fun.
Survivors replaced for both campaigns.
Every weapon changed to something cool, like turning the M16 into the M41-A Pulse rifle from Aliens.
Common infected turned into either zombie nazis or xenomorphs. Using the RE4 Ganados sounds.
Special infected replaced with different things.
My favorites are turning Smoker into Licker(with sounds), Tank into Teemo tibbers with the Pillarmen theme from Jojo's Bizarre adventure, the Hunter is turned into a Xenomorph, and has the Stinkmeaner voice mod so it sounds like a racist venomorph. The Boomers are turned into pedge with male and female variations for Boomer and Boomette, with Boomer having the Uncle Ruckus voice, and Boomette using the Mother brain from Captain N voice, so Boomette sounds like a sociopathic maniac, and boomer sounds like a southern racist. The Witch is turned into Rachel-Ooze from Resident Evil Revelations with the witch moan changed to the appropriate matching audio. The charger turned into The Juggernaut, with "The Juggernaut ♥♥♥♥♥" audio replacer for it's sounds.
I have some retro style HUD replacers too.

The ONLY real mods that seem to be in conflict are the Boondocks voice replacers for the Hunter and Boomer. But before recently it didn't crash when I played.

I have a few campaigns I like from mods too, like Dark Carnival remix, and the Resident Evil 2 and 3 campaign mods.
