I don't play versus but ya gotta understand that people aren't always going to want to spend time teaching you the absolute basics while you're all about to get swarmed by the other team, if you want to learn how to play the game just spend some time on offline or go to YouTube instead of relying on randoms.
So how do you expect them to learn the mode and play alongside you if the Company itself doesn´t even bother to give a proper tutorial for newer players? No introduction at all.
Also combine that with the sweaties of versus using alot of ♥♥♥♥ that many newbies have no idea what they´re doing : Rocket boomer , Hunter Celling Jumps , Bunny Hop tank , Bunny Hop as Survivors and yadaadada
The result is a community that gatekeeps this mode for themselves.
there are people who try to play, adapt and listen to advice. even when it cant be given right away, because all team would die when we type.
and there is the vaste majority of people who bought a second or fifth copy, just to troll around,
kids that barely know how to move their char or just voice spam and shot each other and laugh
people who TK or insult, when you give tips or ask to come with team; kill their char is also common
often there is a language barrier
it can be very frustrating. most problem is that there is nothing keeping first time players from joining versus and other hard modes, like expert or realism vs
some realise quickly, they dont belong there and leave. then you start 5 times a campaign, only for one dude to rush out and die after 5 meters and leave.
player who plays once every some months wouldnt care. if 3 of my 3 l4d days/week for several weeks are "unplayable", thats tough. on top of getting insulted and shot and have to kick many, since team (and me) getting fed up.
"i just want to play the game" counts for both sides.
(weird/bad reasons for kicks, trollkicks, ragekicks etc. do exist. and some people are real quick with kickvoting :(
story here:
a friend of mine asked me in PM about kicking someone. he shot the gas station and killed himself almost. aka troll. i looked up the profile and they had 20 hours. and the dude said something like "omg" or "sorry" in chat... which my friend overlooked i guess)
You're just choosing to do a trial by fire on yourself then.

not sure if this group is still active but it was made to kinda just screw around in versus and not be taken too seriously and help people learn at their own pace and all that through the experience of playing with and against actual people.
It's everyone's job to provide a competitive match for the old players.
A single type of player is expected in a multiplayer game.
otherwise get gud
the simple truth is that just a small small dose of common sense would go a long way but most people seem to no longer possess it
if you're new to the game, practice on easy difficulties with bots for a bit until you feel you're ready to join public lobbies . start from lower difficulties until you can complete runs without struggling for hours and only then move on to a higher difficulty
slightly more complicated for versus but there are good guides on yt that you can watch to get a general idea so you can at least know what to expect and what you're supposed to do
it's madness to jump in realism expert lobbies with 1 hour on record, being completely lost / ff-ing your team-mates every 5 seconds and expect people to just "deal with it"
for versus its not their job to teach you how the game works as they are playing a mode that 1 player can cause the rest of the team to be steamrolled (which to be blunt casual or not isnt fun)
if they dont know spesific things like instant kills just show them (we all been there) its not like they are straight up bad they just need a moment to learn the basics and with some basic communication they should be up to speed in no time and be perfectly fine with survivor
if they are just straight up new then yea versus isnt the place for them to be in toxic mentality behind it or not its just simply not built well for new players
for campaign expert if they are new to expert (not the game) then just help them ease into the difficulty before deciding they just underpreform go back to advance this is defo the most fun way to play expert where there is some challenge behind it
for people new to the game in expert its called expert for a reason unless you are just suddenly god at the game and know how everythign works in 5m just go to a difficulty setting more suited for you its not hard even advance is fine
i saw someone that was straight up new to versus (match had both teams with less experienced players making it easier on them as well) they listend to the team and understood things like the infected quickly,
they attacked first thing as spitter i asked why with them responding stating they were new and not only by seeing the attack but me calling it out they had the common sense to realise the ability provides support (they thought of the infected abilities as a team) tell him to follow he would do so
and from that he was already playing like he had 50 hours (in the sense he was keeping up with the rest of the team)
the fact he was new but listend and general "oh stay close and work with team" they were capable of avoiding the needence to kick because they didnt ignore team and understood things quickly with the use of common sense
so its not even a matter of looking into yt and seeing what you are expected to do just listen to what they say (assuming they are willing to help anyways)
if you need people to vibe with i got you. friends and i play sometimes not too often, but I'm down to show some tips on how to survive. won't take you long to play advanced difficulty after a few play thrus.
