A witch suddenly change target???
Ok so here's the situation: i was in a campaign game, and another player shot at the witch, startling her. The player ran, and the witch chased after him. I shot at the witch, the witch continue to chase after the player and in the process witch ran into me.
I stumbled a bit.
When I recover, I continue to shoot at the witch.
The witch turned around and killed me instead!

So my question is...how is it the witch suddenly changes her target? I didn't use molotov or any fire or explosion. I don't get why the witch would change target. I thought it was only fire that can make the witch change target? Or is it when a witch ran into you you are the next target?

I believe the Witch can change targets if a player does too much damage to her. Also, from the wiki:

"She will only attack upon being startled, homing in on specifically the character that startled her; however, if she is blocked by another Survivor in pursuit, she will attack that one instead, ignoring her old target."

It also said that once he target player has died, she will target another player and attempt to kill them, and will do so until either she or the Survivors are dead. I know this isn't useful, given that the question had already been answered, but I thought it felt relevant enough to say.

In the scenario you described, you probably stood in the witch's way and blocked her path towards original victim who startled her.

Witch then switched aggro and attacked you instead.

"Keep in mind, however, that the Witch can switch targets if a Survivor other than her initial victim blocks her movement for too long."

That does NOT happen. Even says so on the wiki:
"If an attack is successful and if she is still alive, she will run off sobbing out of sight."

As storm said. If you block a witch for too long she will swipe at the person obstructing her from her original target.

Also if one person startles a witch, and then another person burns her in mid chase, she will again switch targets to her burner.

Just to add to this, burning her counts for both molotovs and incendiary ammunition. A lot of people don't seem to realize fire ammo will cause her to target the shooter.

Could have been a modded server.

Witches can change targets if:
1) You didn't startle her but you set her on fire.
2) You are in the way of the Witch's target and she can't get around you.
3) A server has modified the Witch's behavior so she attacks another target after her first is dead.

4) A freak glitch occurs and she just decides she wants to kill somebody else.

If a survivor dies, she will look around for a few seconds before running away, if you got close to her in that moment, she may attack you, however, shooting from distance dont seen to "startle" her again.

After some testing, she will only attack if a survivor stay in her way while she is running away, even when she is looking around before running.

In vanilla servers the Witch will not switch targets after an incap, only on modded servers with the (I think its the:) 'Psychotic Witch' plugin.
However, as you stated she will incap you if you are preventing her from reaching whoever first startled her.

And after she kills a survivor too, if you stay in front of her path while she is running away.
Thats hard to reproduce, and after some testing (i was wrong again)
She actually hits the survivor, but he take no damage..

Okay so uhhhhh, that picture you gave, weeeell, thats probably with cheats. Map c5m1 (for example) sv_cheats 1 god 1......Perhaps a few other cheats. I have caught my brother doing this.

Thanks guys!

I wonder what the tweak command is, to have the witch go after every survivor.
Can't find much.
z_witch_allow_change_victim 1 (or 0) doesnt seem to change anything.

Of course is with cheats, how do you think i would reproduce that?
You theory is invalid, because god mode is for all survivors, not just the "player"
you can see coach is dead, so god mode is off.

Besides, you got only 35hrs of gameplay, you clearly dont have enough experience.
Try yourself, and take you own conclusions.
