Speedrunning timers
I was thinking about getting back into speedrunning L4D2 but i have no idea what a good timer would be to do so. Maybe some fellow speedrunners could give me some suggestions

Rushing Normal or Advanced should take you no longer than 25 minutes. Some smaller maps take less. Expert may take a little longer since the danger level is that much more higher. However. There are people here that have done Expert campaigns in 20 min or less.

You want software to time it? You mean, like note the clock position when you start and finish? lol

Yeah something the records the time for each segment of the game. keeps the best time tells me if i was faster than my previous best so on and so on. Have you guys not watched a speedrun stream before?

When you finish the campaign & the credits start to roll, I believe the first thing you see is how long the campaign took. You really don't need anything else. Do you?

I think speedrunning is a forgen concept to the L4D2 community

Speedrunning is not really a thing in L4D2, because of bunnyhop scripts. You have to get real fine with the details if you want to track the 'legitimacy' of speedruns. Scripts or no scripts? What kind of server are you on? 4players or solo? Glitches/skips? etc..

Stuff like this sets the bar insanely high for ACTUAL speedrunning (as in SRL community -- opposed to just "run really fast through maps").

Compare the above videos with this one, which is 4 players 'legitimately' speedrunning:

I mean there is a reason why you don't see ANY L4D at AGDQ/SGDQ/SRL events. The game just isn't conducive to it and the AI director makes duplicating runs/WRs difficult to compare. There was some footage from one in an early AGDQ but it was 4 people casually playing, not speed running it.

I literally want to keep track of how fast I am going through segments and see if i can beat them faster than i presiously did.

Speedrunning is a play-through of a video game performed with the intent of completing a goal as fast as possible.

I.E. completing L4D2 runs as fast as i can and timing myslef on each segment and then improving on that. Im not like hey lets get this stuff huge im just doing it for myslef all i was asking is if there was a timer suggestion I found it and I can do what I want. if you really look at L4D2 its a good game to track time espetially if you are doing solo.
