Is this game supposed to be so dark?

It's really really dark in a lot of areas, even with my gamma all the way up..
Is this normal?

Look in the workshop. Plenty of add - ons to help you if you find this game too dark. Loads of flashlight mods. Brighter textures. Brighter common infected. Brighter special infected. Ect.... A lot to choose from Wictosis. Just need to search them out.

When i click Browse Workshop, it doesnt do anything

WORKSHOP > L4D2 > Most Recent > type "brighter flashlight"

Tilt your monitor. Sometimes my Laptop isn't in the best position. Never had a problem with Too Dark that couldn't be fixed in the Options. Sometimes the settings don't take effect till you restart the game.

for 4uck's sake valve. i spent days figuring out the issue.
go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\cfg\video.txt and add this setting
"setting.mat_tonemapping_occlusion_use_stencil" "1"
after saving it, set it to read only

Problem still exists, this thread appears to be first on google, and nobody else solved the issue yet, scrub
