L4D 2 Sliding/Skipping Character Movement Animations (Have Video example)
Here it is in a nutshell.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVNyBx_HIyo

I have NO clue how to fix this, I tried reinstalling, verifying integrity, deleting literally EVERY piece of evidence of this game and reinstalling, but NOTHING works. Can someone please help me? I wanna break my monitor cause of this lol.

EDIT: My computer specs are :
Video Card : Nvidia Geforce GTX 660
Operating System : Windows 8.1
Processor : Intel Core i5-4570 CPU 3.20 GHZ, 4 cores
Total of 8 GB Memory (RAM)
And also a x64 bit based system.

EDIT 2 : I also forgot to mention, this did not start happening when I first got my computer, only way later.

EDIT 3 : Bumping this nearly year old post, and I STILL have this problem nor have I ever seen anyone else have it XD. If anyone..can help me, please and thank you =D

P.S also reinstalling it currently after so long of not being able to play so I just uninstalled forever ago, I have tried this countless times before and a COMPLETE reinstall has never worked, but if anything changes I'll let you know!

When wielding pistols, there are no movement animations. It's a game mechanic

No that's not what I meant, I mean look at the OTHER survivors and the zombies, look at the way they move, they have no animations they're just skipping along standing while moving.
Plus this keeps up no matter what weapon I have equipped.

You have a conflicting mod that is causing this. It could even be a map.
Good luck isolating it if you use Workshop.

Actually no I have 0 mods (I would think anyway). I reinstalled multiple times and even deleted the entire L4D 2 folder first so I think I just have the base vanilla game files. And I have no subscriptions in the Left 4 Dead 2 Workshop.. :/
Very odd. What FPS are you getting?

90% of the time it'll be 60 FPS unless something blows up in my face it'll drop for a second, I'll also post my specs above

This is kind of a wild guess: I can see the common still attacking you with their arms but not running with their legs, so I think the animation blending is the problem. There is probably a cache of compiled vertex shaders on your system under a folder named after your graphics card vendor. Since the shader code in the game is the same before and after a reinstall, they wouldn't get recompiled by the graphics driver until you wipe that cache. I would also look for and install the newest driver (or a slightly older driver, if you're on the newest now) before trying the game again. I only know how to find and delete the cache on Linux & NVidia so you'll have to ask google about your specific setup.

edit: installing a different driver might even be enough to force recompilation but there's only one way to be sure.

I'll try the different drivers as I have no clue where the NVIDIA cache folder would be, I don't see it...and..google wasn't helping xD
I don't normally recommend changing video drivers to fix in-game issues but in your case, I would do it. How old is your current driver?

It's the latest for the GTX 660, version 344.11, I'm going to try downgrading to.. 334.89, Only a few down from the latest.

OK, now that your specs are up, I looked around and it seems either

C:\Windows\Temp\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache
or
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Temp\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache

has the stuff you want to delete. You probably won't be able to find anything specific to L4D2 in there, so just delete it all. It shouldn't hurt anything except to temporarily increase load times in any game while things are recompiled and the cache gets refilled. Also, you can apparently disable the shader cache feature from within the NVidia Control Panel, to see if that helps, but the setting was new in 337.xx.

I deleted everything I could, but a few very tiny files I couldn't delete as it kept telling me "This program is open in User Account Control Panel Host, and some say they are open in Windows Explorer..", Tried launching my game again, but sadly it didn't work. :(

Oh, I also tried turning off the shader cache thing, and no luck.

I've seen that before, but only when my ping was in the high hundreds or due problems with the server (3rd party), itself.

If it is on your PC it's has to be something outside the L4D2 directory, being that you've already did a redownload and that didn't work,. Next thing to try would be to reinstall Steam Client completely... As well as L4D2. (if you don't want to redownload l4d2, you can ignore deleting l4d2 in the following, but it leaves an opening of not squashing the problem. on the first try.)

So...
delete local files for L4D2.
move the steamapps folder outside of steam (a backup)
uninstall steam client thru windows.
manually delete the steam directory if it's still there.
download and install steam client
download l4d2.
try it...

to put your other games back in.
Delete the l4d2 directory from your steamapp/common backup (we don't want to overwrite the fresh install of L4D2.)
Move Steamapps/common directory of the backup into steamapps of the new install of steam client. (just want to move the game directories back into the Common folder, not the other files or folders that are in the backup.)
When you hit the install button steamclient should see that the files are in place and not download anything.

Hmm, but how would that work since steam requires you to delete every steam game first and then you can remove steam itself, (unless they changed that), moving the folder would still have the games highlighted as if they're installed wouldn't it?..
