AK vs M16 (assault rifle). Which is better and why?
See title. Tell me which of those 2 weapons do you use/enjoy more AND WHY you do. I really want reasons why specifically. Just writing "AK" or "M16" tells me nothing.

That's not really the point of this to be honest. This is sort of a test of something else. Hence why I need WHY answers.

I prefer M16 since it's a lot more accurate.Although AK do more damage per shot,if so much of those shots miss,it does less damage overall in the end.AK is best at close range and I use melee weapons for that.

VoidSpawn, if you get a laser sight with an AK, it's just about as accurate as an M16.

Yeah, but laser is so freaking rare.Only encountered it about 3 times, not including the gun shop level.

You uh... you didn't actually link anything.

The wiki also says that the M16 has better penetration. Bull. Crap. It penetrates only a single target, just like the AK does. If it at least penetrated a few targets, it would be worth using over the AK, but as it is? The Combat Rifle does a better job if you want accuracy.

M16 with fast reload is a rifle for jerks who don't give a sh*t and thrive on running and gunning, constantly being on the move.

AK47 with slower reload and higher DPS — preferred by those that play conservatively and hold their ground to crouch, aim and shoot.

At first, AK47 was my top choice but after dumping too much time into the game, I now prefer SCAR/M16 > AK

Smokers are non-threats with both SCAR and M16. With the AK (yawn) however, good luck freeing from mid-pull.

All said, quantitative specs such as carrying capacity and rate of fire etc. ultimately mean little to me as a player. Prefer mobility, accuracy and speed. Also willing to spray and dump M16 for a new weapon when ammo runs low.

I personally love the Combat Rifle/SCAR, but I made this thread really just to see why people would choose between the 2 more similar rifles. I don't really see why most would use the M16, seeing as the AK has DOUBLE the firepower, which is ALWAYS useful, and trades in accuracy, which is only occasionally useful. I mean, this is a game where zombies are ALWAYS running towards you, and are usually pretty close, so that accuracy doesn't mean much I feel.

I like the SCAR because, while it does do less damage than the AK, it still does more than the M16, and it's REALLY accurate, accurate enough to make the slight damage decrease worth it in my opinion. The extra bullets per clip don't hurt either.

If I want accuracy, I go for the SCAR. If I want power, I go for the AK. I don't see much of a reason for the M16.

I haven't looked into the numbers and hard facts, but usually I prefer AK, because:

- It doesn't eat up all my ammo like the M16, in fact I often just fire one shot at commons and that's enough, whereas with M16 I'm rarely able to fire only one shot at a time
- It seems to do more damage per shot than M16
- It feels just as accurate as M16
- I like the sound and look of it better

Well, it totally does more damage. Almost double as much. In terms of accuracy, like I mentioned, I don't feel a huge difference. Maybe if I was standing still and shooting, it would, but otherwise, not really noticible.

As for looking and sounding better, I think all the assault weapons sound pretty good, but in different ways. But you know, whatever you enjoy you enjoy. It's all about fun man.
The AK is sort of like an automatic magnum. It has great stopping power.. If you want quick accuracy just duck. Helps to control your fire rather than just holding down the mouse button. So i prefer the AK although I will use the M16 if that's all there is.

Well, it kills things in one hit on NORMAL difficulty. On anything higher, it takes at least two.

That said, on higher difficulties, the M16 takes 3 or 4 hits, so the AK damage is still pretty impressive.

Definitely. Gunbardo's description is very accurate by the way, I tend to not just rush through the maps (although I'm still relatively fast), and I crouch a lot when I aim. I also like to aim for headshots, and few things feel more rewarding than one-shotting a smoker in the face with the AK and hear the imploding sound as he yields (I believe you could do that, anyway).
