Change nickname
Hi, is there any way to permanently change nickname in game without changing steam name? I've tried command setinfo name xxx, but it changes again to steam name every stage or new game. Thanks in advance.

No, there is not. The game synchronises your info with Steam after each chapter. This is unchangable since it is Steamworks doing that.

This is not true. You can change your "alias" to anything you want and it will show up in the game.

Why are you asking? You already have several alias's.
Just go to your Steam page and click EDIT. Change tour PROFILE NAME.
This will NOT change your Steam account name. It just changes your in-game name.

I think OP means changing the name they appear as in L4D2 without changing their Steam username.

It's possible to change your name if you're on a server with Sourcemod and you have admin access to it, otherwise probably not- although % % will show up in L4D2 as blank spaces.

That is exactly what I explained how to do.

You can only change your alias name which is the name that shows in the game. You can change it as much as you want. I have friends that change it daily.
Your Steam account name cannot be changed.

You are misunderstanding what is wanted. As an example with the method you showed, if you were to do that and set your name to just "Blaster", that is what will appear in game, on other people's friends list, on her, anywhere your name is used. Yes, it will change the name in game, but op is asking for a way to change it in game without doing that method or using setinfo name since that is only temporary.



@Op, no, there is no way other than changing your steam name or setinfo name each map.
